Thorn In My Side

Now that apparently the desert scorching hot winds are no longer threatening to make toast out of bread left in the sunshine or to fry an egg on a car's bonnet and that the new winds seem to be trying to push South some really dark and stormy clouds, filled to the brim with rain and lightning, we would like to dedicate this song, which we think is very appropriate to describe what is the Maddie Affair to many people out there:

Thorn in my side.
You know that's all you ever were.
A bundle of lies.
You know that's all that it was worth
I should have known better
But I trusted you at first.
I should have known better
But I got what I deserved

To run away from you
Was all that I could do.
To run away from you
Was all that I could do.

Thorn in my side.
You know that's all you'll ever be.
So don't think you know better
'Cause that's what you mean to me
I was feeling complicated.
I was feeling low.
Now everytime I think of you
I shiver to the bone

From what we've been able to tell, it seems that it's NOT whatever amount of water pouring from the sky, with or without lightning, that will change the will of someone down South.

And the winds have got the weather all wrong. Rain and lightning are the result of LOW pressures, not HIGH ones.

Transcript:

Andrew Marr: I think we better start with the Savile story, which is again in every single newspaper and makes very unpleasant reading…

David Aaronovitch: Yes the Sunday Telegraph has as its lead which not all newspaper do but all… They do run the independence… I… to me the issue is not what whether a news night did or didn’t do… but as you’re saying Clare is what that 40 years of procedures to all others institutions including the BBC who owed a duty of care… it feels a bit like a version of the Catholic Church, people turning what was going on and if…

Andrew Marr: On what was going on, what was going on… I mean it was probably after Esther Rantzen and Childline, the national mood and as David has written, started to change over dramatically…

Clare Balding: And he was so brazen and he was hiding behind this, you know, great entertainer but also the great charity fund-raiser and not totally dissimilar, although Lance Armstrong has not publicly been accused of any sort of sexual shenanigans but not totally dissimilar in terms of the fallen idol, to Lance Armstrong

Andrew Marr: The great cyclist who’s been, who’s been found doping…

Clare Balding: Throughout his career... two massive pieces… I mean… the Sunday Times has been consistent on Lance Armstrong, David Walsh has been absolutely superb over the years on stories and, and event… you know, I mean people were frightened of Lance Armstrong. He was very intimidating, he threatened all the time to take out injunctions, to sue people. Jimmy Saville did the same thing, he was very physically intimidating, people were scared of him, and, you know, these are two people who were almost so, they were so, they were so toughing it out so much, they would almost hint as if they might be guilty, they say I’m untouchable

David Aaronovitch: It comes to a strange state of knowing and unknowing doesn’t it? I mean there’s a large number of people somewhere who know that something is going on as with Lance Armstrong, and that they therefore know that what they’re saying about this character publicly is undermined by about what they know about him privately, but the rest of the people who don’t know absolutely about it, who haven’t got any info, have to buy the willingness or the charity raising, this guy at face value and have to have this guys a complete hero, I mean it’s a bizarre situation.

Clare Balding: And it is actually terrifying because it also says awful a lot about the nature of celebrity and when you get that well known that you become slightly untouchable and that’s really unhealthy as well

David Aaronovitch: And you’ve made a point of brazennessbrazenness is everything, if you're not brazen about it, if you show self-doubt about it then you don’t get away with it, but if you are truly brazen, people aren’t ready for the brazen person.

Andrew Marr: If you are to tell a lie, tell a big lie, it always used to be said…

Post Scriptum (by our reader abbas):

The Tapas wasn’t part of the MW deal of that we can be sure
If it was, it would have been mentioned in the 07 brochure
PR people in droves changing statements to cause confusion after early May
But read the OC reviews before this, its enlightening in what they say

A Thorn in the McCanns hide is what you are
Exposing the farce for the lies they really are
They say you know nothing, you do not have a clue
And many of the posters know a lot more than you do

But if your blog is drivel and your posts do not make sense
Why do the Black Hats spend so much time on gratuitous offence

Your readers, not followers, can debate and use their brain
We do not need the rabid ramblings of idiots like Insane
So are you, Textusa, a thorn in the McCanns hides
Or are the McCanns a thorn inflicting pain on many peoples lives

We know the farce, it has gone on far too long
But I leave you with the words of another Eurythmics song

When Tomorrow Comes

Underneath your dreamlit eyes, shades of sleep have driven you away
The moon is pale outside and you are far from here
Breathing shifts your careless head, untroubled by the chaos of our lives
Another day, another night has taken you again my dear
And you know that I'm gonna be the one who'll be there
When you need someone to depend upon when tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes)
Last night while you were lying in my arms and I was wondering where you were
And you know, you looked just like a baby, fast asleep in this dangerous world
Every star was shining brightly, just like a million years before
And we were feeling very small, underneath the universe
And you know that I'm gonna be the one who'll be there
When you need someone to depend upon when tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes)

And you know that I am gonna be the one who'll be there
When you need someone to depend upon when tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) When tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, when tomorrow comes
(Wait until tomorrow comes) I can't wait 'til tomorrow comes baby
When tomorrow comes (I wanna be with you, when tomorrow comes)
(I wanna be with you, when tomorrow comes)
(I wanna be with you)

  1. Sorry to be pessimistic but the "large number of people somewhere who know that something is going on" about Maddie are only the most powerful institutions in Britain. Just to name 3: BBC, Scotland Yard and the UK Government. None can go back on their word so they'll continue with the charade regardless of knowing that what they’re saying about this matter publicly is undermined by about what they know about it privately. I don't think I ever saw something like this ever in my life. With Savile I now see that people pretended not to see but I don't remember anyone openly defending him and anyone helping him persecute others.

With some lucky "Curiosity" will spot her in Mars and send immediately the image to NASA.

Wonder why after 6 years, THE WORLD HAVE NEVER BE INFORMED OF A SIGHT IN UK.

The stupid abductor took the girl everywhere, in all environments where she quickly and easily could be spotted as an outsider, instead of taking her to her home country where she could easily pass unnoticed due to her skin colour and her english language.

  12. Textusa yours is a really good site and I have been following it since the beginning when Ironside would write comment. Over the years I have noticed how the Mccanns change their stories via the media and also Kates book there are far too many inconsistancies in all their statements but why these people the tapas group lied for the Mccanns is questionable which makes me feel that perhaps 'swinging' did occur otherwise why would they lie. The round table.... did they really expect us to believe that a huge round table for all those guests actually existed, besides a pool in the darkness, out of season. Far too many lies but thank you Textusa because you are standing strong and when this finally comes to court as it will, you will be credited amongst those that stood up and believed in the truth.

  17. Bom dia!

Court begins today Leonor Cipriano in the trial of Faro.

The woman is accused for having allegedly made false statements when he complained of having been assaulted by members of the Judicial Police.

The inspectors have been acquitted and the court then concluded that Leonor Cipriano had lied.

The trial starts this afternoon at 14h00, in the first criminal trial of the Court of Faro.

  20. !5 years to the day, Afonso Dias has been sentenced to 3 and half years in prison by the Porto's Appeal Court, for the kidnap of Rui Pedro.

His lawyers have already informed that they will appeal to the Supreme Justice Court.

As a blogger I will abide by my words and say that the sentence was handed out by a rightful entity within the Portuguese Judicial System and so express my satisfaction of this outcome.

As a citizen, not wanting to in any way contest the decision, I would like to express my sincere disgust for this decision. It reflects the mockery that the Portuguese Judicial System has become. Not only it has taken FIFTEEN years to come to a decision as THREE and HALF YEARS in prison for kidnapping a child, one yet to returned, is nothing less of shocking.

In Portugal if you rob an ATM machine you may be sentenced to 12 years in prison.
