I made my child a Ward of Court

There is a saying and never more so than in my case. 'Becareful what you wish for ,it may come true'. I was born an only child and readily admit spoilt rotten, whatever I wanted I got.

My mother was not so easy to fool but my father would believe every word I said, it was SO easy to lie. I learnt ,thanks to daddy how to get my own way with men and it helped me through life in more ways than one.

Men, they fell at my feet. I was popular in school and one of the top students in college. I really was the Golden girl. Life then became sweeter , Richard entered my life.

I could see my friends green with envy as the good looking Scott ,all be it rough around the edges wanted me. Just me.

They say there is one who loves and one who is loved and Richard LOVED me. He loved me so much he followed me wherever I went ,like a love sick puppy. He would do ANYTHING to make me happy.

Time went by, Richard and I married and we really were very happy. We had a traditional wedding and friends called us the 'Golden Couple' the world was our oyster. However a dark cloud came into our lives , the warmth from the sun was eclipsed, we had problems and felt only raw emotion when told, we could not have the one thing we both longed for, a child.

Luck has always been on our side and both of us, as Doctors, have very good contacts we decided to try IVF.

The treatment was a success and our first child would bring us great joy. Megan was born ,beautiful Megan with her huge eyes that seemed to engulf her face. But the honeymoon period was short lived.

Megan suffered from colic , she would scream for hours, on and on and on...she would not be quiet...nothing I did would make her stop. Finally she would sleep and I would drag myself to bed, exhausted, too exhausted to sleep and too exhausted to make love to Richard my rough around the edges Scott.

I also knew the loneliness of being an only child and thought a brother or sister for Megan would make her life more fun. What joy ,Megan had both ,a brother and a sister, our little family was complete. The twins Samantha and Dominic could not have been more different to Megan as babies.

They would suckle my breast and then go to sleep happy and content. Megan would scream in the background crying for attention as I tried to feed the little ones. It was a nightmare.

When I think back ,I cannot remember if there was a day or time I fell out of love with my first born. I only know I loved the twins more.

I was at the end of my tether. I tried to explain to Richard how I could not cope and he arranged for family members to help me when he was away at the hospital.

It was not supposed to be this way. I was afraid, afraid I would harm my own child. Family members also fearful and aware of what was happening in our home ,a home that should have been perfect.

The constant battle of trying to control Megan and care for two babies had reached an end. A family member had offered to adopt Megan. This may sound harsh but it seemed the solution to all our problems.

Megan would still be part of the family, she would just not live with us anymore. Of course there would be details to iron out ,we would have to speak with a lawyer to see if a blood relative could adopt another family member.

The news was good, this is what we were told. A blood relative may adopt a child from another family member, the process is a long one and may take up to two years to complete.

But first before adoption takes place the child must become a WARD OF COURT.

We went ahead and Megan after being made a Ward of Court was adopted by my Aunt.

Megan is now a happy and content little girl who will soon be seven years old. The twins know she is their big sister and we have taken advice and will tell them when the time is right why she does not live with us.

Richard and I agree the best time would be when we are all together as a family, probably dining in our own back garden.

This story is pure fiction....or is part of it true?

  1. To clarify this part of the story is true. It is the Law.

  3. Iron,

    Give me a break!

You know I'm working on the Smith Sighting saga, and now you bring in the possibility of a mother's short fuse...

My brain has limits, and I'm still digesting Murat.

Now we know that the cops asked Kate about that. And there aren't innocent questions from them.

    Good job!

  4. A couple of questions from Kates Arguido status...

When asked if it is true that her twin children have difficulty in falling asleep, that they are restless and that it upsets her, she did not reply.

When asked whether or not it is true that sometimes she felt desperate over her children’s behaviour and that it upset her very much, she did not reply.
When asked whether or not it is true that in England she considered the possibility of handing over Madeleine’s guardianship to a relative, she did not reply.

ALL reports, Madeleine was made a WOC in 2007...As the Mccann case is based on a lie it may well have been much earlier.A Freedom of Information...sooner or later would have revealed this as fact, PJ must have known to ask Kate such a question.

    Portugal – Interior Justice Ministry

The Lack of News in the Madeleine Case Impedes its Re-Opening

Lisbon, 3rd May. The Portuguese authorities have not made any step to re-open the case of the British girl Madeleine McCann, who disappeared three years ago today, as no new evidence has emerged that justifies another investigation.

According to legal sources consulted by Efe, in spite of the statements periodically made by Madeleine’s parents and those that they made in their libel case against the ex PJ officer who related them to the death of their daughter no new news has been made public about the case being re-opened.

With the event of the third anniversary of the disappearance of their daughter, Kate and Gerry McCann have appeared on various European TV stations and printed media to insist that their daughter is alive and to ask for help in looking for her.

The couple, who in 2007, organised the biggest media campaign to gather funds ever seen in a case of a disappearance, have repeatedly said, without giving details, that they have new leads about their daughter’s possible fate.

But Portuguese justice, which officially closed the case a year after the disappearance can only re-open it with new evidence and formal denunciations made before the police.

The Portuguese Public Prosecutor, upon archiving the case on 21st July 2008 discounted the indications linking the McCanns to their daughter’s death as well as those that pointed to the abduction of the girl by some stranger.

After having declared them as official suspects in the case, the prosecutors also discarded acting against the couple for having left Madeleine, who was three years old on the night of her disappearance, alone with her younger siblings, whilst they dined with friends.

The couple state that they took turns in going to see the children, but in their statements and those of their friends, as well as the cadaver traces detected in their car and belongings, is where the Portuguese police found the greatest number of contradictions and suspicions in the case.
The Portuguese authorities, accused of not having acted rigorously during the first hours of the disappearance and neglecting the crime scene, never found a trace of the girl and were not even able to bring the couple’s friends back to Portugal for a re-construction of the facts.

The evidence they collected with the help of British police and dogs remained for months in a British laboratory which finally issued a report without sufficient certainty to implicate the parents or shed some light onto the case, according to statements by the then responsible Portuguese police officers.

The McCanns, who suddenly Leith Portugal when they were declared suspects in September 2007, returned last year to quarrel with the police officer who led the investigation, Gonçalo Amaral, dismissed and retired early and now in danger of ending up in ruin because of the couple’s law suit.
The book in which Amaral covers the details of the investigation – also gathered from the public summary of the case – and suggests that Madeleine died in an accidental manner and that the parents disposed of the body, was banned last February alter a first victory of the British couple in the Portuguese civil courts.

Madeleine disappeared on 3rd May 2007 from an apartment in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve and the only thing that remains of her for the moment are the thousands of pages of a Portuguese investigation without guilty parties and the images and comments of the web page her parents maintain.

The McCanns have always declared themselves to be innocent and determined to find their daughter to whom they today dedicated this message: “Madeleine. Still missing, still missed, we are still looking for you”..
