Birdwatching

As there was no relevant activity in the Maddie case this week, we resume our birdwatching activity.

Watching eagles fly and ostriches run. Or in the Maddie case watching people wanting other people to believe that ostriches fly and eagles run.

When we feel we are to return we will.

We agree fully that's exactly what happened... until they decided to embark on the hoax.

From that point on, they do have a case to answer to.

I always thought that the authorities who, for their own convenience, i.e not to be discredited, let the MC circus develop are the real guilty ones.

  3. Textusa I know you believe (as do I) that they didn’t dine all week at the Tapas that they dined downtown and the children were cared for by Nannies. They dined in the tapas only on the last night to allow for the “abduction” via neglect theory to be pushed. What I wonder is do you think that the children were left alone on the night also or like other nights were they cared for by Nannies.
What gets me about the neglect story was that on hearing that one of the children had been "taken" 5 other parents (Tanner had already left the restaurant apparently) rushed and 1 grandmother leisurely strolled back to the missing child's apartment. There was no rush to ensure that nobody had "taken" their own child. In fact it was only after Diane Webster had been sent back to retrieve the valuable commodity that was Kate's Camera that she was sent to check on and stay with her grandchildren. When my daughter was a baby a friend’s child suffered a cot death. My daughter was sleeping upstairs in her cot when I heard the news.....my first reaction wasn’t for my Friends child I left a grieving family to rush to my own child. IMO this is a natural reaction and if these parents didn't rush first to check on their own children it was because they knew they were safe and being looked after.

    3. Anne personally I didn't believe the listening device story and even if it existed and ttransmitted the distance between the Tapas and apartment , they were supposedly out for a leisurely meal. Are you saying that if you thought for a split second there was a madman stealing babies that you would content that yours were fine because you hadn't heard anything through a monitor 70 yards away.. I have wee grandchildren now and if they stay over my daughter leaves her monitor I spend my night checking the monitor and I sleep in the room with them just in case I don't hear them.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous, I don't think that they immediately believed that babies were being stolen, then an acquaintance (Rachael) doesn't react like a friend (Fiona), finally some people are more egoistic than others. Fiona asked her mother to stay at the Tapas in case MMC popped up, Rachael instead of letting her husband to search for the missing child requested his company because of the sprawling schinus molle !

    5. Did they maybe just visit the Tapas every evening for tapas as opposed a full meal? Then move on somewhere else? After all the evening meal was included in the price of the holiday, along with breakfast, so wouldn't expect them to forego this all together.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous 11 Mar 2017, 09:03:00,

If they moved on somewhere else, then that means the Tapas dinners were an hoax (as we say they were) and the Tapas staff did not tell the truth (as we say they didn't).

The Tapas bar was a pool-side bar. The facility of the resort that served dinners was the Millenium, or known as the Mill.

Once one understands that the Ocean Staff and Mark Warner were, as we have shown, involved then all that is 'officially' said that supports the negligence narrative, has to be taken with a grain of salt, namely that dinners, were included.

    7. Anne @ 03:45. Sure supposedly Kate knew straight away she has been taken thus the "they have taken her" outburst. However I don't believe that any of them thought for one minute then, after, now or ever that babies were being stolen. They were all aware of the sick game they were about to collaborate in. They were all parents and even if they just thought she had wandered off their first reaction would be to check that their own was ok. Friend acquaintance or otherwise.

The same reasoning applys to Kate McCann claiming that when she went to do her 10 o clock check that only the door was opened more than she left it she wouldn't have looked in on them. That also goes against human nature....ask most parents who have gone to bed without looking in at their sleeping children only to toss and turn for 10 minutes before getting up again to check even though their certain their fine. It's human nature when we are separated from our young even for a short time to content ourselves they are ok

MADELEINE McCann’s parents have vowed to report “malicious and offensive” trolls to cops as the torrent of online abuse rises in the run up to the tenth anniversary of her disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann fear they will be subjected to an even bigger outpouring of internet hate as the heart-wrenching milestone approaches in May.

Last Sunday selfie queen Karen Danczuk sparked fury by claiming the couple “have guilt” in an astonishing Twitter tirade on Kate’s 49th birthday.

She said: “Anyone who says McCanns are innocent, just remember they left 3 children under the age of 4 alone to go out. Either Way they have guilt! KD”.

Former glamour model Jodie Marsh recently launched a similar attack, slamming the McCanns while apparently watching investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas revealing his latest theory on the case on ITV’s This Morning.

She tweeted: “In my opinion it’s all going to come crashing down for the McCanns…

“I must admit, if it were my child I’d be on my hands & knees digging up the earth with my bare hands! Nothing else would matter.”

A close pal of the McCanns said of the approaching anniversary: “It’s a very difficult and emotional time for them and they don’t need the extra anguish of having tweeters and minor celebrities posting negative and hurtful remarks about them.

“They are now filtering, with the aid of their official representative and friends, any cruel and offensive material which oversteps the mark to pass on to police to assess. Malicious communication is an offence.

“People seem to be saying whatever they want which is the eyes of the law could be deemed a criminal offence. There is a constant and growing activity by these ghouls and it’s a disgrace.

“It continues to anger and upset Madeleine’s family.”

The McCanns, from Rothley, Leics, are targeted by up to 150 abuse tweets every day, most of them sent by women, research found.

Psychologist Dr John Synott said: “Most trolling behaviour has a lifespan of a couple of days. But the McCann case has been going on for nearly ten years and you cannot see the abuse ever ending.”

The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell told The Sun Online: “Any threatening and malicious communication will immediately be forwarded to the police for them to investigate and to act upon where necessary."

Mr Mitchell has also been bombarded with abuse himself for representing the family.

Former GP Kate, whose hope of finding her daughter alive never fades, has previously said: “We’ve had lots of abuse over the years. People wouldn’t get away with behaving like that in the street and yet they feel they can hide behind a computer at home. They’re cowards.”

Kate revealed that while she and heart doctor husband Gerry, 48, try to ignore the negative comments posted on Twitter and chat forums, some are too malicious to forget.

The anguished mum said in an TV interview with Lorraine Kelly: “It’s the internet abuse that is so damaging and we both feel really strongly that more should be done about it.”

Gerry has in the past hit out at trolls targeting his family with threats of violence and kidnapping, and said he worries about his 12-year-old twins Sean and Amelie using the internet.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “There have been instances where people are threatening to kidnap our children. People are threatening violence against Kate and myself.

“Of course it’s not just us. It is many other people who happen to find themselves in rather tragic circumstances. I do think we need to make examples of people who are causing damage.”

Kate and Gerry also hit out at the “insensitive” way Madeleine was drawn into hit BBC drama The Moorside – based on the fake kidnap of Shannon Matthews.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, while her parents were dining nearby with pals.

British police are winding down their £13million probe, but Kate and Gerry have never given up hope of finding their daughter, who would now be 13.

No, unfortunately we didn't. You are absolutely right if we lived in a just, logical and reasonable world but unfortunately we don't.

As we have witnessed, in the Ben Needham case, authorities picked up the rock and the the hard place and simply threw them together in the nearest bin.

Indeed, it's the credibility SY that is at stake, but after the pantomime that was the 2013 UK Crimewatch and the Praia da Luz circus, is it really on top priority?

It must be said, and there we must give you reason, that the knowledge the public has about Ben's case is not compared with what it has about Maddie's.

That meaning we believe that if a Ben Needham solution is tried on Maddie, the social networking will burst and not stay quiet as it has about Ben.

And that may just well be what will clinch things in our favour. We have shown 10 years of resilience, so telling us to go home won't work and threatening legally people for telling the truth, won't either.

Where we disagree with you is when you say "one would hope SY are better than that". This, for us is way above SY's paygrade.

Even if it wants to be better and is told not to be, it won't be.

Let's hope it's told to take credit for a publicly recognised well-conducted police investigation, even though we know there was never anything of the kind.

      Delete
    6. If its above SY's paygrade then any out come must be at the acceptance of the PJ,maybe this is the sticking point, its a PJ enquiry essentially, well according to Hogan Howe it was in his radio interview April 2016.

Kate and Gerry McCanns’ abuse threat: ‘We’ve had enough and will fight all trolls’

KATE and Gerry McCann have pledged to report every single troll who abuses them to the police.

By Ruth McKee / Published 10th March 2017

That is despite the couple receiving a staggering 150 sick messages a day.

Their vow comes after selfie queen Karen Danczuk launched a stream of abuse against them on Twitter earlier this week.

The pair are said to fear a rise in abusive messages as the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Madeleine – then aged three – in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia Da Luz in May 2007 approaches.

A friend of the family revealed Kate and Gerry will start going through the insults and attacks in a bid to weed out bullies.

They will report them to police, who will take action against anything slanderous or criminal.

Karen Danczuk, the ex-wife of Labour MP Simon Danczuk, wrote: “Anyone who says McCanns are innocent, just remember they left 3 children under the age of 4 alone to go out. Either Way they have guilt!”.

The couple’s spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, vowed: “Any threatening and malicious communication will immediately be forwarded to the police for them to investigate.”

A source close to the family said: “There is growing activity by these ghouls and it’s a disgrace.”

Madeleine McCann’s parents plough £500,000 into desperate search for their missing daughter

Kate and Gerry hope returns from the schemes will boost the dwindling Find Madeleine Fund as the 10th ¬anniversary of her disappearance ¬approaches

    By Patrick Hill

    Updated22:05, 11 MAR 2017

Madeleine McCann’s parents have put nearly £500,000 into a string of investments in a desperate bid to keep their search for her going.

Kate and Gerry hope returns from the schemes will boost the dwindling Find Madeleine Fund as the 10th ¬anniversary of her disappearance ¬approaches. They have declined to reveal what they have invested in.

A source said: “They are making best use of the fund’s remaining cash. It makes sense to make sure the money earns as much as possible.”

Companies House accounts show the Find Madeleine Fund – controlled by Kate, Gerry and four other directors had total assets at £714,000, taking into account the invested £490,839.

That’s down from the £763,722 held in cash in 2015.

It is understood the McCanns have raised a total of £3.7million in the past 10 years in the hunt for Madeleine, who would now be aged 13.

Most of the money has gone on private investigators and campaigns.

But the fund could now be wiped out as the couple, both doctors, face a reported £400,000 legal bill.

It comes after they lost a libel battle with ¬ex-Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral over claims they faked their daughter’s abduction.

There are also fears he could counter-sue them. The McCanns’ lawyers have ¬confirmed they will use money from the fund as they appeal the case.

Our source added: “Kate and Gerry’s lawyers in Portugal have lodged papers with the appeal court, so the prospect of paying anything out to Amaral is a long way off.

“But the 10th anniversary of Maddie’s disappearance is now just weeks away and things are already hard enough for them, without the extra hardship of having to worry about how they are going to carry on funding the search. It’s a really ¬emotional time for them.”

The McCanns could also be forced to use money from the fund to pay private detectives if a Home Office grant for the Met Police investigation, is not renewed in August.

Operation Grange, which has cost more than £12million over six years, has already been massively scaled back.

Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007 as her parents dined at a tapas restaurant nearby.

It is believed she was abducted. Thousands of¬ people donated money as a worldwide search got under way.

The source said: “Most of the public donations that came in came in the first year and Kate and Gerry remain incredibly grateful for every penny.

“But that was all spent on ¬private investigators and campaigning in the first couple of years.

“All extraneous costs have been cut back to make sure they keep money available in the bank ready for the day should the police investigation stop completely.”

The McCanns, who live with their two other children Sean and Amelie in Rothley, Leicestershire, are convinced Maddie is still alive.

McCanns are given £85,000 boost to fund Madeleine search for another six months as police reveal they are closing in on her kidnapper

Kate and Gerry McCann are 'very grateful' for the support by Scotland Yard
The couple face the agonising milestone 10th anniversary of her abduction
Metropolitan Police confirmed the Home Office had approved the extra funding

The parents of Madeleine McCann have been given a lifeline in the search for their daughter with a new £85,000 cash boost to police who now reveal they are closing in on her kidnapper.

Kate and Gerry McCann tonight said they are 'very grateful' for the continued support by Scotland Yard amid fears the controversial £13million investigation into Maddie's disappearance, codenamed Operation Grange, was being shelved.

The couple face the agonising milestone 10th anniversary of her abduction in just eight weeks.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the Home Office had approved the extra funding to continue inquiries for another six months.

But he refused to say if they were now trying to quiz one final Portuguese suspect, simply saying: 'We are cracking on. The Operation Grange team are not prepared to discuss any lines of inquiry while the investigation is ongoing.'

Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said tonight: 'Kate and Gerry remain incredibly grateful to the Home Office and the Met Police for the continued work into the search for their daughter.'

He added: 'But, like the police, they will not be commenting on any operational details.'

The inquiry was launched nearly six years ago in May 2011 on orders of then Prime Minister David Cameron but has so far failed to unearth any new clues.

A close pal of former GP Kate, 49, and heart doctor Gerry said: 'They have never given up hope of finding out what happened to Madeleine, and still believe she could be alive.

'They appreciate the Met Police's help and know they are doing everyone possible for a resolution after all this time.'

Three-year-old Maddie vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal's Praia da Luz nearly a decade ago in May 2007 while her parents were dining nearby with friends. She would now be aged 13, nearly 14.

As time was believed to be running out on the slow-going investigation a fresh injection of cash, approved last week by the Home Office of request of the desperate police, is ' very welcoming', the McCann source said.

The extra SY money has rubber stamped by PM Teresa May, who has met Maddie's parents several times in the past in her former role as Home Secretary.

Britain's top cop, newly retired Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe told last summer how his officers were chasing up one 'last throw of the dice' lead in their painstaking inquiries.

Mrs May had come to their rescue in April 2016 granting police an extra £95,000 to help keep the search going.

And now, a financial year on, her predecessor Home Secretary Amber Rudd has approved an extra £85,000 till early October – a noticeable £10,000 less after this week's Budget woes.

Ex police chiefs and some members of public have slammed the Maddie inquiry as a waste of taxpayers' money and officers' time despite it being drastically scaled down last year.

Four officers continue to work on the team, headed by Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall. A force spokesperson said: 'The inquiry has not reached a conclusion. There are still focused lines of investigation to be pursued. There are no immediate plans to reduce office numbers further at this time.'

Former police chief Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe recently said: 'Either way we want to try and end the torture that Madeleine's parents are going through.'

While still boss, before bowing out last month, he said: 'I can't be absolutely confident we will resolve it, 100 per cent. But we've made some really good progress on the lines of inquiry and I think we have a really good chance.'

Kate and Gerry, 48, from Rothley, Leics, said in a previous posting on the official Find Maddie website: 'Until we have answers, until there is news there will always be hope. Whist the investigation is never as much or as speedy as we, or the police would like, we are moving in the right direction.'

    And inserted in article:

    MCCANNS PUT £500K INTO FUND

The McCanns have ploughed nearly £500,000 into the Find Madeleine Fund.

Companies House records show the fund, which is controlled by Kate, Gerry and four other directors, had total assets at £714,000.

The couple have raised £3.7million since Maddie's disappearance 10 years ago.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'They are making best use of the fund's remaining cash.

'It makes sense to make sure the money earns as much as possible.'

Most of the money has been used to pay for private investigators and campaigns.

    1. So it's an alive Portuguese suspect now!
Or maybe it's actually a witness?
But why another 6 months funding if they have the suspect- why not say the funding will be extended to cover the questioning of this man?
I guess it's to prolong the case until the court decision is made on complaint as you said.

McCann-case cops get funds to continue probe

    12:11 PM Sunday Mar 12, 2017

British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann nearly 10 years ago have been granted £85,000 to extend the search for a further six months.

The British Home Office has granted officers the funds to continue the probe until September.

Three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have vowed to "never give up" hope of finding their daughter.

There is one person who was near the area where Madeleine went missing who police want to speak to, the Sunday Express reported.

To date a total of £11.1 million has been spent looking for Madeleine.

Madeleine Bombshell: Police net closes in on just one man who is key to the mystery

DETECTIVES investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have identified a person they want to question and have been given an extra £85,000 to follow up the crucial lead.

    By Caroline Wheeler - Exclusive
    PUBLISHED: 00:01, Sun, Mar 12, 2017

The hunt was due to end within weeks as funding ran out. But in a fresh development detectives said there is a specific person of interest they need to question.

The lead is seen as solid enough to persuade the Home Office to grant the extra money which will extend the search until September.

It means the investigation will continue past the 10th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance in May.

She vanished from her bed in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz while her parents ate a meal nearby with friends just days before her fourth birthday in 2007.

Police said there is one individual they want to speak to who was in the same area of Portugal when she went missing.

International intelligence agencies have been working together to find the “person of interest” who detectives believe may hold the key to solving the case.

Had the information not been deemed a “solid live lead” then the £13million police investigation would have been wound up.

The Home Office last night confirmed that the Metropolitan Police had been awarded an extra £85,000 in operational costs for Operation Grange to continue.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Following an application from the Metropolitan Police for special grant funding the Home Office has confirmed £85,000 in operational costs for Operation Grange for the period April 1 until September 2017.

“As with all applications the resources required are reviewed regularly and careful consideration is given before any new funding is allocated.”

Senior officers admit the investigation of the new lead is the “last throw of the dice” in their hunt.

But the Met is taking the development so seriously that leading Whitehall officials are being briefed on its progress.

An insider said: “There is just one person who detectives want to speak to who was near to the area where Madeleine disappeared almost 10 years ago.

“An international search has been underway to find them.”

Last night Policing Minister Brandon Lewis, who signed off the latest payment, said: “I am pleased to be able to support the British police who are trying to get to the bottom of what happened to Madeleine McCann and give some kind of closure and justice to her family.”

At the height of Scotland Yard’s inquiries more than 30 detectives and support staff were working on Operation Grange based at Belgravia police station in central London.

When the inquiry was in full swing a team of trained specialists carried out detailed searches of carefully chosen scrubland near where Madeleine was taken from the coastal holiday spot on May 3, 2007.

Now Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall, who leads the small team, has the unenviable task of trying to make a breakthrough with limited resources and a ticking clock before the September cut-off date.

Detectives are now confident the net is closing in on the key lead which is why an application was made to the Home Office for extra funding and a stay of execution for the investigation.

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry remain convinced their daughter could still be alive.

They had invested huge hopes in Operation Grange to end their nightmare and were relieved that the once well-financed formal police probe allowed them to halt their own private investigations.

After Grange was launched in May 2011 the 48-year-old doctors from Rothley, Leicestershire, resumed relatively normal lives with heart expert Gerry working full time at Glenfield Hospital near their home and Kate concentrating on bringing up their twins, Sean and Amelie, now aged 11.

Kate said last year: “The urge to look for Madeleine absolutely hasn’t changed at all.

    "We will never give up.

"I want an end, an answer. Whatever that it is.”

Operation Grange was launched after a personal plea from Kate to then prime minister David Cameron after the Portuguese closed down their own inquiry.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “The investigation is ongoing.”

Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have been granted £85,000 to extend the search for a further six months.
The Home Office funding is to extend the probe, known as Operation Grange, between April and September this year.
Madeleine, of Rothley, Leicestershire, disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal in May 2007 aged three.
The extra funding has been earmarked for operational costs.
Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have vowed to "never give up" hope of finding their daughter.
Since 2011, the Metropolitan Police has been assisting with the search for clues about what happened to the toddler, with officers visiting the holiday resort in 2014.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "Following an application from the Metropolitan Police for Special Grant funding, the Home Office has confirmed £85,000 in operational costs for Operation Grange for the period 1 April until September 2017.
"As with all applications, the resources required are reviewed regularly and careful consideration is given before any new funding is allocated."

Now who is going to be the "Patsy"one of the original Arquidos? Missing Ben Needham pleads for help ‘from beyond the grave’ in fresh appeal written by toddler’s desperate mum

Devastated mum Kerry has penned Ben's imagined words as she appeals for help finding his body

    By Natasha Rigler
    12th March 2017, 2:02 pm

TRAGIC toddler Ben Needham has “begged for help from beyond the grave” in a chilling letter written by his distraught mum.

Ben went missing on the Greek island Kos in 1991 and has never been found, but his desperate family have never given up searching for his body.

Heartbroken mum Kerry Needham issued the fresh appeal imagining her son’s own words in the latest bid to trace him after police concluded he must have died in an accident.

Cops believe Ben was killed after being hit by a digger while playing with a toy car, which was discovered during a dig on the island last year.

But the family are still fighting to trace Ben’s body and bring it home for a proper burial.

Posted with an iconic picture of toddler Ben on Facebook, the appeal said: “My name is Ben Needham. I disappeared on 24th July 1991.

“I was 21 months old when I was involved in an accident on Kos Island, Greece.

“My family are still trying to find me so they can take me home.

“They need me. I need them. Please tell someone where I am.”

Alongside the black and white photo, Kerry told followers Ben “needs to be brought back home” and buried in England.

She begged: “Please share this with all your friends and family, especially if you have Facebook friends in Greece.

“Somebody, somewhere knows exactly where Ben is.

“PLEASE get in touch - all tips and leads are 100 per cent confidential.”

Kerry added: “Help us bring Ben home where he belongs so his family can lay him to rest and give him the send off their baby deserves.

“For the family’s sake and for Ben’s sake. Ben needs to be brought home.”

Detectives from Yorkshire Police travelled to Kos and renewed their search for Ben last September.

Their presence on the island came amid claims that digger driver Konstantinos Barkas, known as Dino, may have been responsible for his disappearance.

Cops excavated the site where Ben was last seen and found 93 objects of interest, including a red toy car belonging to the toddler.

Kerry was later seen collapsing in tears as she visited the spot with family members.

In January, Kerry issued a New Year warning to those holding secrets about what happened.

She said: “You may think you can hide in the dark forever. No one can hide from their conscience.

    “Someone, somewhere, knows something.”

    1. By coincidence, or then maybe not, the day after the Express has informed us that government has granted funds for Operation Grange for the forthcoming fiscal year, the Needhams ask for information about the whereabouts of his body.

Interesting, as we have said before, is the fact that the family seems to be more interested in knowing where the body is rather than knowing how, where and when he was supposed to have had that fatal accident, nor about who killed him, supposedly, by accident.

On this, very strangely, we continue to be quite a lonesome voice.

Missing Ben Needham 'speaks from beyond the grave' in mum's heartbreaking appeal

MISSING Ben Needham has "spoken from beyond the grave" as his family releases an appeal written in the tragic tot's own words.

By Jess Bell / Published 12th March 2017

The blonde-haired youngster from Sheffield vanished on the Island of Kos when he was just 21 months old in 1991.

Last year officers carried out a last-ditch search on the Greek island — which failed to find Ben's body — before closing the investigation.

South Yorkshire Police concluded the youngster most likely died in accident, as Greek cops slammed the investigation saying Ben would "never be found".

In the latest appeal released by Ben's family, they write in the little lad's voice as if he is talking from beyond the grave.

It says: "My name is Ben Needham. I disappeared 24th July 1991, I was 21 months old when I was involved in an accident on Kos Island, Greece.

"My family are still trying to find me so they can take me home. They need me, I need them, please tell someone where I am."

Sharing the appeal on Facebook, the family wrote: "Somebody, somewhere knows exactly where Ben is.

"PLEASE get in touch - all tips & leads are 100% confidential.

"Help us bring Ben home where he belongs so his family can lay him to rest and his family can give him the send off their baby deserves.

"For the family's sake and for Ben's sake. Ben needs to be brought home."

Police carried out the three-week dig at a building site near to the family's holiday home in October last year.

They discovered a small toy car which they believe Ben was playing with when he was killed in a digger accident.

Devastated mum Kerry said she wanted to "tear up" the whole island when police closed the probe.

She told the Mirror: "Police said it's time we ended our 25-year search.

"They are right but I can't say goodbye knowing he's still on that island somewhere."

Madeleine McCann cops hunt worker at resort as they fear he 'kept secrets' from local police
British officers are convinced the former worker at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz knows more than he's told them

police are hunting for a worker from the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished who they believe has clues about her ¬disappearance.

The Portuguese man was at the Ocean Club in Praia Da Luz when the three-year-old was snatched in 2007.

He gave a statement at the time but detectives fear he may have kept secrets.

A local police source said: “British officers are very keen to question him.”

The former resort worker being hunted by police on the Madeleine McCann case gave a -witness statement two days after the girl vanished.

But British officers trying to find the youngster fear he may have kept secrets from local detectives that could have led to a ¬breakthrough in the case.

And they now want to speak to the former staff member who worked at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz on the Algarve, where three-year-old Madeleine vanished in May 2007.

A Portuguese police source said: “British officers are convinced he knows more than he was previously saying and are very keen to question him.

“They are not suggesting he stole Maddie but he may know people who could have been involved after a burglary went wrong. The investigation in Britain seems to be grinding to a halt and they want to rule him out of the case if not rule him in.

“Then detectives know they have done everything in their power to try to solve the case.

“This Portuguese man used to work at the club resort, he speaks a bit of English.”

Another source reportedly said: “There is just one person detectives want to speak to who was near to the area Madeleine disappeared from 10 years ago.

“An international search has been under way to find them.”

The “solid live lead” is seen as strong enough to have persuaded the Home Office to plough £85,000 more into the Met’s Operation Grange. That will extend the search for ¬Madeleine until September.

Her doctor parents Kate and Gerry McCann , of Rothley, Leics, have always believed their daughter is still alive.

Senior officers are said to have admitted this the “last throw of the dice” in the hunt. But they are taking the new lead so seriously that top Whitehall ¬officials are being briefed on its progress, it is ¬understood.

The £13million hunt for Madeleine was due to end within weeks. But the extra cash came after a“special grant funding” appeal from the Met when the new lead came to light.

Scotland Yard said: “Inquiries are ongoing.” The Ocean Club would not comment last night.

Taxpayer fury as police handed extra funding to look for missing Madeleine McCann

TAXPAYERS blasted a decision to extend the police hunt for missing Madeleine McCann by another six months.

By Jerry Lawton / Published 12th March 2017

The Home Office is to hand the Metropolitan Police £85,000 to continue its investigation.

An inquiry – which has already cost £12million – was due to be shelved at the end of the month.

But the extra cash was granted after police said they have identified an individual they want to question.

The unnamed “person of interest” was in the same part of Portugal when Madeleine – then three – vanished from Praia da Luz in 2007.

Madeleine’s former GP mum Kate, 49, and heart specialist dad Gerry, 48, said they were “incredibly grateful” the police search would continue.

But news of the decision began trending on Twitter.

One taxpayer tweeted: “The Govt has spent £13m of OUR money searching for a child who’s (sic) parents left her at home in a foreign country alone.”

Another messaged: “All these talks of those naughty Tory cuts and yet this is still being funded.”

A third wrote: “253 children listed on Missing Kids website. Why is this case special?”

A fed-up householder wrote: “I have 2 cops to police my crime-ridden area and no CCTV.”

Another taxpayer said: “Sorry but what about the millions of other missing children who had funds cut.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The investigation is ongoing.”

Madeleine McCann teria hoje 13 anos. Veja a reconstituição do desaparecimento de Maddy feita pela CMTV.

“Back to the Ocean Club” - Maddie cops focus on “missing resort worker”

The hunt for closure in the almost 10 year mystery of ‘what happened to Madeleine McCann’ is focusing once again on Luz Ocean Club -- the complex from which she went missing almost 10 years ago.

The news, repeated by various UK tabloids this morning, follows a purported ‘last ditch’ £85,000 (€96,000) injection into the long-running British police probe - extending the already multi-millionaire funding for another six months.

It also comes as the parents of missing Madeleine announced they too will be ‘ploughing €500,000’ into the “desperate search” for their missing daughter.

According to today’s news, the latest ‘hot lead’ is a former Portuguese worker at the now world-famous family holiday resort.

Claiming to be in touch with “an insider”, the Daily Mail says police believe this worker “kept secrets from them during the initial investigation”.

“There is no suggestion he stole Maddie, but he may know the people involved”, adds the tabloid - stressing yet again the angle of a burglary that “went wrong”.

A “Portuguese police source” is reported to have told the Daily Mirror: “This Portuguese man used to work at the club resort, he speaks a bit of English” - which, in the grand scheme of things, means he could be just about anybody.

In Portugal, the revelations have been greeted with a hefty dose of salt. Criminal investigator, writer and broadcaster Moita Flores - formerly attached to the country’s Judicial Police - and a regular commentator on the ‘unspoken angles’ of the case, has given an exclusive interview to Flash! news website (part of the Cofina group that owns Correio da Manhã) suggesting: “This is all just another attempt to clear the real people responsible for this disaster.

“Why this child, when there are so many others who have disappeared”, he queries.

“The secret is in that group of people (holidaying with the McCann couple) and the parents, who are influential people within the British government”, he said.

For now, the official British version of this seemingly endless mystery is that an international search is underway to try and locate this new ‘key witness’. The latest cash injection from the British government is to facilitate that search, the papers claim, quoting policing minister Brandon Lewis “who signed off the payment, saying: ‘I am pleased to be able to support the British police who are trying to get to the bottom of what happened to Madeleine McCann and give some kind of closure and justice to her family”.

Little has been made of the fact that the detective in charge of the much-reduced police investigation for the last two-plus years is formerly from the Met’s homicide division (click here).

As Moita Flores told Flash! he has "no doubts" that the case "involves a murder".

"It was impossible to get through a window with a child", he said - referring to the official version of the abduction theory - adding that "Maddie died in that apartment".

"With the €96,000 awarded by the British government, they should be doing a reconstruction in Praia da Luz", he told Flash!. "It is the only way to resolve the case".

    NEW MADDIE LEAD
Maddie McCann cops now hunting for Portuguese worker at Praia da Luz resort where she vanished amid suspicion he ‘kept secrets from investigators’

Brit investigators have reportedly been handed extra time to probe the new lead in hunt for missing Maddie

A FORMER employee of the resort where Maddie McCann vanished from may hold the key to solving the mystery of her disappearance, it has been reported.

Brit investigators want to speak to a Portuguese man who worked at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz where the three-year-old was last seen in 2007.

The unnamed man had previously been interviewed by cops desperate to track down Maddie, but now they have reason to believe he may hold more key info.

A Portuguese police source told The Mirror: "British officers are very keen to question him and are convinced he knows more than he was previously saying.

“They are not suggesting he stole Maddie but he may know people who could have been involved."

The new probe is connected to claims the infamous disappearance is linked to a burglary at the McCann's holiday home which went horribly wrong.

The worker was quizzed as a witness just two days after the child disappeared from her room as her parents dined out with friends.

Now police want to speak to him again and an international search has 'been put in place' to track him down.

Brit investigators have already spent nearly £13million trying to find the youngster.

Policing Minister Brandon Lewis last night said: “I am pleased to be able to support the British police who are trying to get to the bottom of what happened to Madeleine McCann and give some kind of closure and justice to her family.”

A Home Office spokesman added: “Following an application from the Metropolitan Police for special grant funding the Home Office has confirmed £85,000 in operational costs for Operation Grange for the period April 1 until September 2017.

“As with all applications the resources required are reviewed regularly and careful consideration is given before any new funding is allocated.”

Gerry and Kate McCann insist their daughter is still alive and have led a high-profile fundraising campaign the keep the hunt for their daughter alive.

Maddie McCann cops 'hunting resort worker who kept secrets over tot's disappearance'

COPS searching for Maddie McCann are reportedly hunting a resort worker who police believe could hold the answers to her 10-year disappearance.

By Jess Bell / Published 13th March 2017

Police are said to be hunting a Portugese hotel worker who was at the Ocean Club when the tot vanished.

He gave a statement to police at the time but cops fear he may have been keeping secrets from the authorities, reports the Mirror.

A Portugese police source told the newspaper: “British officers are convinced he knows more than he was previously saying and are very keen to question him.

“They are not suggesting he stole Maddie but he may know people who could have been involved after a burglary went wrong.

“This Portuguese man used to work at the club resort, he speaks a bit of English.”

He reportedly gave a witness statement two days after Maddie's disappearance, but cops now hope to track him down again.

And finding the mystery man has been deemed a strong enough lead to warrant the cash injection from the Home Office.

The extra six months will take the search operation past the 10-year anniversary of Maddie's disappearance.

Her parents Kate and Gerry McCann have vowed to "never give up hope" of finding their daughter, who would now be 13 years old.

The missing three-year-old vanished from the family's hotel room in the Portugese holiday hotspot Praia Da Luz in May 2007.

Her disappearance sparked a vast manhunt involving both the Portugese cops and the Met Police.

The decade long search operation was due to end in April.

But Operation Grange — the probe into Maddie's disappearance — has been given an £85,000 funding boost to extend the search for a further six months.

To date a total of £11million has been spent on Operation Grange.

Daily star Online has contacted the Ocean Club for comment.

Madeleine McCann search sparks Piers Morgan to lock horns with guest

THINGS got very heated on Good Morning Britain today.

Piers Morgan locked horns with a retired senior detective over the search for Madeline Madeleine McCann.

Sue Hill worked for the Met Police and on today's show claimed that the funding to find Maddie is being over-resourced.

At the height of their spat, Sue bellowed: "You don't have to make difficult choices."

Piers clapped back: "What is your timeframe for a missing child because I need to know.

"I have four kids and if one of them goes missing how long does Sue Hill give me?"

No nonsense Sue replied: "No Piers, you're just being difficult.

Good Morning Britain viewers in meltdown over ‘ridiculous’ £11.1 million bill for the Madeleine McCann investigation as top cop declares it is a waste of money

Piers Morgan debated the case as it was revealed police are getting another £85,000 to continue hunt a decade after the youngster vanished

GOOD Morning Britain viewers went into meltdown today as they vented their fury over the “ridiculous” £11.1 million which has been spent on the hunt for Madeleine McCann.

Piers Morgan debated the case on the show today as it was revealed police are getting another £85,000 to prop up the probe – a decade after the youngster disappeared in Portugal.

Funding for the case has been extended for another six months, and the move was a hot topic on Good Morning Britain today.

Piers and his co-host Susanna Reid debated the issue with retired Met police officer Sue Hill, Dr Graham Hill, who worked on the investigation, and Karen Danczuk.

Top cop Sue declared the huge bill is a waste of taxpayers’ money – and urged the force to finally “put sentiment aside”.

She said: “Knowing how many undetected murders there are here in London… sometimes you have to put sentiment to one side and say enough is enough.”

Viewers were left furious as it emerged the investigation has cost more than £11 million so far since Maddie, three, vanished in 2007.

Fans took to Twitter to insist police resources had been stretched far enough by the case – and many suggested other missing child cases have been underfunded in comparision to the Maddie probe.

One outraged viewer wrote: “Glad that @gmb are covering the #MadeleineMccann funding. This case is being over-resourced, yet again. Taxpayers aren’t happy.”

Another added: “11.1m on the search for #MadeleineMccann is ridiculous…”

No, this is the injection they were fighting for, as it delays, yet again the decision, now, we think, until a decision on the complaint to the Portuguese Supreme Justice Court is taken.

      Brexit may, however, alter this.

However, there was something they didn't expect to hear, and have.

    5. Only a few rulings enter into the Ministry of Justice's database after the decision has been anonymized. The recent judgement of the STJ did and is now part of the database.
Jurisprudence, i.e all judicial decisions illustrating how a certain legal issue has been resolved (in this case, conflict between two fundamental rights, freedom of expression and honour), has not the same role in the countries of Romano-Germanic tradition and the common law countries. In the latter jurisprudence is an important source of the law and the courts are bound by the judgements of superior courts, whereas in the former the respect of case law is relative, the function of creating the law belonging to the legislator. Although it is neither binding nor normative, the jurisprudence's role is to avoid the disparity of judgements and furthermore to sanction the evolution of legal situations' interpretation (cf. for instance the influence of the ECHR).
Is it credible that it could be submitted to a nullity complaint?

    10:24 - 13 Mar 2017

It's a case that has divided opinion over the past decade and the news that police searching for missing Madeleine McCann are getting another £85,000 to extend the investigation by another six months has ignited even further comment.

Over £11 million of taxpayers' money has now been spent trying to find Maddy - who was three when she went missing during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007 - but does the most recent extension mean there's been a significant development?

We spoke to criminologist Dr Graham Hill, who worked on the original investigation after the little girl's disappearance and he thinks the McCanns are right to carry on trying to find out what happened to their daughter.

However, former Metropolitan Police senior detective Sue Hill, who has worked on dozens of missing child cases, disagreed, saying: "Sometimes you just have to put sentiment to one side and say enough is enough".

As the doxa, the common belief, cautioned by OG's remit to look for the child and her kidnapper(s), is abduction, people, independently of what they think when they think on their own, feel forced to cry over the situation for the sake of cameras. Would they abstain, they'd be blamed, cursed, monsterized, etc. I can understand "there can't be anything worse", as if they themselves passed through all kinds of atrocious ordeals, but this one : every second of your life having at the back of your head the image of your defenceless child badly needing you.

How is such a "professional" allowed to come onto TV and carry on like this without being put right by somebody who actually knows something about this case. Hill was embarrasingly wrong is so much that he said. He must be questioned about his approach to allowing neglect to be acceptable to, especially through lies. It also seemed to me that Reid and Morgan were the McCann's representatives, Sue Hill was simply put there to show any kind of opposition is wrong and easily corrected. The way Morgan continually butted in to force the issue was embarrasing and he came across to me as knowing a lot more than he was letting on i.e. working off instructions.

No one knows how much they are or are not in the loop. But if you were them, were do you think you would want to be. Timing has also played it's hand in all this, firstly the Courts decision from Portugal and the approaching 10th year

Meanwhile, just look at the noise over the past few weeks

The pattern and cycle with return to it's usual level. All quiet, until the dust has settled - then in six weeks there will be the rounds the studios and no doubt a good few more documentaries from PDL.

MATTHEW Wright claims the parents of missing children have been “short-changed” by the Government after it ploughed millions of pounds into looking for Madeleine McCann and only £2,500 on other missing children.

Speaking on today’s The Wright Stuff, the 51-year-old presenter discussed the new £85,000 cash injection given to Kate and Gerry McCann to track down a “person of interest” loitering near the Portuguese holiday resort the night their daughter went missing.

He explained: “The money has got to be interesting to the wider public.

“This follows the £10million fund that David Cameron ordered was ‘ring fenced’ specifically to help find her.

“£10million got nowhere over the past two years – £85k in comparison does sound like a last roll of the dice.

“It doesn’t sound like it will get much further than this final investigation.

“It is an extraordinary case and an extraordinary amount of money – it’s heartbreaking for all concerned.”

Maddie is believed to have been snatched aged three from her parents’ holiday apartment while they had dinner with friends on the other side of the resort.

She was left sleeping alone with her toddler twin siblings who survived the mysterious incident unharmed.

Matthew then presented some key facts that made the huge sums spent looking for the missing child look even more extreme.

He said: “Three hundred children go missing and are not found again in the UK every year and on average the police expenditure on each child that isn’t found is £2,500.

“Other missing kids’ parents have been short changed by us, the Government, the police.
“The search continues and more threats of writs from the McCann parents.

“I think there was even some talk about them taking action again Karen Matthews.

“That seems to me like the last thing people should focus on when their child is missing.”

Matthew’s comments come hours after Good Morning Britain fans slammed the doctor duo for the £11m spent to date looking for their missing daughter.

Maddie McCann: Abduction theories blasted as 'ridiculous' by US crime expert

    By Mark Saunokonoko

Scotland Yard has wasted almost $20 million investigating "ridiculous" theories that Madeleine McCann was abducted, according to a US criminal profiler.

Pat Brown, a profiler of cold cases in America and a regular guest on major US TV networks, said she was baffled by British police who failed to carry out a "proper investigation".

Operation Grange was launched by London Metropolitan Police in 2011, after Madeleine McCann vanished without trace from her family's Portuguese holiday apartment in May 2007.

The case, which continues to fascinate the world, remains unsolved.

"What Scotland Yard was doing was not a proper investigation," Brown told Nine.com.au.

"Scotland Yard went in saying the McCanns are not suspects, and that [the disappearance of Maddie] is an abduction. There is absolutely no way you should have entered an investigation saying that."

Scotland Yard is one of the world's most respected crime fighting agencies, making its approach doubly confusing, Brown said.

"Their focus has always been there was an abduction and we're going after a kidnapper."

Everyone, including parents Gerry and Kate, should have been suspects when Operation Grange was opened following a 2011 request by now British Prime Minister Theresa May, Brown said.

"They spent a tremendous amount of time following the most ridiculous leads ever. It was like watching a massive charade.

"To this day it's made no sense. They've spent an incredible sum of money going absolutely nowhere, coming up with absolutely nothing – not even a piece of evidence to add to the evidence we already know about."

This week Operation Grange was granted another $137,200 to cover operational costs through to September 17, a period that will include the 10th anniversary of Maddie's disappearance on May 3, 2007.

An unnamed source inside Operation Grange, which to date has been funded to the tune of $17.9m by the British government, claimed it was "a last throw of the dice".

Brown told Nine.com.au she believed Scotland Yard was handed a political football, where the results of the investigation did not matter.

The American profiler has spent countless hours poring over the entirety of official case files that were released by Portugal's Policia Judiciaria. She has also visited the town of Praia Da Luz.

    (Cont.)

  52. (Cont.)

Policia Judiciaria investigated the disappearance of Maddie, who would now be aged 13, between 4 May 2007 and 21 July 2008.

In September 2007 Gerry and Kate were sensationally named as 'arguidos' (a person being questioned under caution) by Portuguese police.

Goncalo Amaral, the detective who headed up the original investigation, claimed Gerry and Kate McCann covered up their daughter’s death in his book and a documentary.

The McCanns, who have always staunchly declared their innocence, last month lost their court battle to silence the former detective.

Brown met with Amaral while she was in Praia Da Luz, exploring key locations and surrounding areas relating to the case.

"There is evidence to lead one to believe the top theory should be Madeleine is dead," declared Brown.

She said, having looked at all the evidence, there was "zero sign of abduction".

Operation Grange has investigated theories involving child sex traffickers and Maddie's abduction by burglars or pedophiles.

The child trafficking theory was initially raised by private investigators hired by the McCanns in 2007.

The outspoken presenter debated the Maddie case on Good Morning Britain after it was revealed cops were getting an extra £85,000 to continue funding the near 10-year search.

Retired Met Police officer Sue Hill slammed the huge bill as a waste of taxpayers’ money and urged the force to finally shelve their inquiry and “put sentiment aside.”

A source close to ex GP Kate, 49, and heart doctor Gerry, 48, of Rothley, Leics, said: “Why a retired police officer is challenging how Scotland Yard spend their resources on the biggest ever missing child cases is simply baffling. To say they should be closing the case while important inquiries are still ongoing is ridiculous.”

He said: "It is complicated, so many people take a moral view on the McCanns.

"I wouldn’t have done what they did but having interviewed them your heart breaks for these people.

"I don’t think there is any bigger priority, I really don't. Other than keeping the country safe from terrorism, missing kids has got to be top of the list."

Piers and his co-host Susanna Reid debated the issue with retired Met police officer Sue Hill, Dr Graham Hill, who worked on the investigation, and Karen Danczuk.

Top cop Sue declared the huge bill is a waste of taxpayers' money - and urged the force to finally "put sentiment aside".

She said: "Knowing how many undetected murders there are here in London… sometimes you have to put sentiment to one side and say enough is enough."

Viewers were left furious as it emerged the investigation has cost more than £11 million so far since Maddie, three, vanished from Praia da Luz in 2007.

Fans took to Twitter to insist police resources had been stretched far enough by the case - and many suggested other missing child cases have been underfunded in comparison to the Maddie probe.

One outraged viewer wrote: "Glad that @gmb are covering the #MadeleineMccann funding. This case is being over-resourced, yet again. Taxpayers aren't happy."

Another added: "11.1m on the search for #MadeleineMccann is ridiculous..."

A third tweeted: "#MadeleineMcCann When Do We #ScaleBack Really? Im #Hurt For The Families Of This Girl But What About Other #Children Who Have #Disappeared?"

Another added: "Oi I'm not being funny but if I was abducted in Benidorm when I was 8, my mum would not have got 11m quid to look for me #MadeleineMccann."

Piers stood by his viewpoint later and defended the McCanns on Twitter.

He said: "Astonishing how much vitriol & abuse the sanctimonious British public pours on the heads of Madeleine McCann's parents. And shameful."

The TV host later added: "The McCanns spend every day imagining their little girl being raped, tortured or murdered by a paedophile. There can't be anything worse.

"Sue made a valid point but British cops are chasing a new lead that could solve the McCann case. Surely they must pursue it?"

The funding bump comes after it emerged cops are chasing a new lead as they hunt for a a former employee of the resort where Maddie disappeared.

British police want to seek to a Portuguese man who worked at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz.

Kirstie Allsopp defends Madeleine McCann’s parents in Twitter row over their parenting skills after police are given £85,000 to continue the search for their daughter

TV presenter Kirtie Allsopp has spoken out in defence of Madeleine McCann’s parents on Twitter.

The Location, Location, Location star debated with her followers about the famous hunt which it was revealed to have cost taxpayers over £11.1 million since the three-year-old went missing in 2007.

Kirstie shared her feelings about the criticism Madeleine’s parents received for leaving their children alone in their holiday room in Portugal.

Kirstie had been responding to Piers Morgan’s tweet saying the McCann’s were being vilified for the “mistake” of leaving their children alone as she tweeted: “I disagree, I think it was OK to leave the kids sleeping while the parents were in a restaurant close by & checking frequently.”

She continued: “Have always though the McCanns did nothing wrong leaving the kids asleep nearby, it’s something people have done worldwide since time began.”

When comedian Dara O’Briain warned: “Beware! This is a topic that is uniquely beloved of ghoulish, judgemental arseholes, sneering at the bereaved.”

Kirstie replied: “Bless you, I know, but I’ve always thought that they did nothing wrong and it’s important to say it.”

She stressed to followers: “We cannot live every moment in fear of the tiny, tiny number of evil freaks that sadly exist, parenting has become too fearful.

“For years Mums & Dads have popped next door to have a cuppa with a neighbour when the kids were in bed or even gone to the pub on the corner.”

She continued: “What I find staggering is the number of people who think that they could never make the wrong choice, because I know I have, often.

"Good to know that if you fail there are so many to judge & condemn you, on the upside great to learn that perfect parents are so numerous."

She then concluded: "No desire to debate this, I've said my bit and won't be revisiting the topic, shocked by the amount of bile people hold, it isn't healthy."

    THE HUNT GOES ON
When did Madeleine McCann disappear, what age would she be, what kidnapping theories are there and how much has the case cost?

Madeleine McCann disappeared in May 2007 while on holiday with her family in Portugal

By Neal Baker, Jon Lockett and Gemma Mullin

    Updated: 14th March 2017, 9:53 am

THE case of missing Madeleine McCann remains shrouded in mystery and new theories continue to emerge as it approaches the 10th anniversary of her disappearance.

Police have been given an extra £85,000 to probe a new key suspect, who was near the resort in Praia Da Luz when the tot was last seen in May 2007.

    WHEN DID MADELEINE MCCANN DISAPPEAR?

Madeleine vanished on May 3, 2007, when her family, from Leicestershire, were holidaying in the Algarve.

Parents Gerry and Kate left their three children – including toddler twins Sean and Amelie – sleeping in their apartment while they dined at a nearby tapas bar.

When Kate returned to check on the kids at around 10pm that evening she discovered that Maddie was not in her bed and was missing.

In September of that year Gerry and Kate, who are both doctors, were sensationally named as ‘arguidos’ by Portuguese police.

While arguido is often translated as ‘suspect’ it actually means a person being questioned under caution.

The following summer the McCanns were cleared by investigators in Portugal who declared they had exhausted all avenues in the case.

In 2010, Maddie’s distraught parents met with then-home secretary Theresa May to talk about the hunt for their daughter.

The following year, Scotland Yard launched its own review, named Operation Grange, into the case at the behest of the future PM.

Two years later Scotland Yard said it had uncovered new leads while Portuguese police reopened their case.

In October 2015, Operation Grange was scaled down from 29 detectives to just four.

Last December, the Tory government injected extra funding into the operation as cops investigate a new theory that Maddie was snatched by a human trafficking ring.

HOW OLD WOULD MADELEINE MCCANN BE NOW?

Maddie would have turned 13 on May 12 2016.

In April 2012, UK cops released a computer generated image of Maddie showing what she would look like aged nine.

A number of potential leads have emerged since the little girl vanished, but none amounted to anything and no arrests have ever been made.

WHAT ARE THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE CASE?

Portuguese judges said the couple have not been cleared over the disappearance of daughter Madeleine.

The Supreme Court has revealed the removal of their ‘arguido’ status nine years ago should not be “equated to proof of innocence”.

Portugal’s most senior judges claimed the investigation into the McCanns was only shelved in 2008 because of a lack of evidence.

Judges added there were “serious concerns” over the theory that Madeleine had been abducted.

Judges added their job was not to decide whether the McCanns bore any criminal responsibility over their daughter’s disappearance.

They said it would be wrong for anyone to draw any inferences about the couple’s guilt or innocence from their ruling.

Former Met Police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe quit in February, breaking his pledge to “end the torture” of Madeleine’s parents and resolve the world’s biggest missing child mystery after nearly 10 years.

But as the Scotland Yard chief stepped down, his force is still no closer to knowing what happened to Maddie.

Her parents Gerry and Kate McCann recently lost their latest court appeal to silence former cop Goncalo Amaral, who claims they covered up their daughter’s death in his book.

They have launched a challenge against the judges who sided with Amaral and also stated Madeleine’s parents have not been cleared of suspicion.

In a nine-page legal complaint seeking to invalidate the ruling they accuse the Portuguese judges of “contradictions” and acting “frivolously”.

The heartbroken couple may also face a fresh legal battle as they may sue over a “lunatic conspiracy theory” TV documentary which has emerged, based on Amaral’s shocking accusations.

As the tenth anniversary of Madeline’s disappearance approaches, the McCanns have slammed claims that they plan to make money from their daughter’s disappearance.

Kate and Gerry also hit out at the “insensitive” way Madeleine was drawn into hit BBC drama The Moorside – based on the fake kidnap of Shannon Matthews.

It later emerged the McCanns were almost scammed out of £25,000 they wanted to donate to Shannon’s mum Karen, but were told by police not to hand over the cash.

It has also emerged the apartment where they stayed in Praia Da Luz was bought by a British gran for a knockdown £113,000.

WHAT DID KAREN DANCZUK SAY ABOUT THE MCCANNS?

The former wife of disgraced MP Simon, “selfie queen” Karen indulged in a late-night Twitter rant attacking Gerry and Kate McCann.

She wrote: “Anyone who says McCanns are innocent, just remember they left 3 children under the age of 4 alone to go out. Either Way they have guilt! KD”.

But a pal of the McCanns warned Karen could now face legal action over the Tweets, telling the Sun the pair’s top lawyers Carter Ruck were kept fully informed of all “malicious and libellous” comments.

After being grilled by fellow Twitter users over the source of her “information”, Karen tweeted to thank “the thousands of you who have supported me these last few days”.

It came just days after glamour model Jodie Marsh launched a similar Twitter rant about the McCanns.

  59. (Cont.)

Despite the pair’s comments, there is no evidence the McCanns were involved in Maddie’s disappearance whatsoever.

WHO IS GONCALO AMARAL AND WHAT DID HE CLAIM IN HIS BOOK?

Amaral is an ex-police officer who led the initial hunt when three-year-old Maddie went missing from the Algarve in 2007.

The now retired detective was removed as head of the investigation after criticising British detectives.

In July 2008, Amaral released a book called The Truth of the Lie which claims the McCanns faked the abduction.

In the book, it is claimed that Maddie had died in their holiday flat and her parents faked her abduction to cover up the tragedy.

The book was released just three days after Gerry and Kate were told their status as formal suspects had been lifted on July 21 2008.

Amaral is understood to have earned £344,000 from his book before it was banned and a subsequent TV documentary.

WHY WERE THE MCCANNS TRYING TO STOP THE BOOK FROM BEING PUBLISHED?

Portuguese Supreme Court judges upheld the decision from last April to reverse the McCann’s 2015 libel win against Goncalo Amaral.

The hearing took place in private in Lisbon on January 31, 2017.

The couple could now face a huge legal bill, which had been frozen until the outcome of the final appeal.

Amaral was ordered to pay Kate and Gerry £430,000 plus interest in damages after losing round one of their libel battle in April 2015 over his book The Truth of the Lie.

Appeal judges reversed the initial ruling by a court in Lisbon in April last year, siding with the former police chief and overturning a ban on his book.

The libel trial was held to resolve the conflict between the rights of Gerry and Kate McCann’s reputation with Amaral’s right of freedom of expression.

The decision sparked a fresh appeal by the McCanns to the country’s highest law court.

The McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer Isabel Duarte lodged the couple’s new appeal last May after vowing to fight the U-turn by judges over Amaral’s book.

Criticising the ruling in favour of the ex-police chief, which a friend of the McCanns said had left them “seething,” she said: “This decision was an appreciation of the law and not the facts.

“We can appeal to the Supreme Court which we will do as we have instructions from our clients.”

WHAT ARE THE CLAIMS IN GONCALO AMARAL’S BOOK?

In the book, it is claimed that Maddie had died in their holiday flat and her parents faked her abduction to cover up the tragedy.

The book was released just three days after Gerry and Kate were told their status as formal suspects had been lifted on July 21 2008.

Amaral is understood to have earned £344,000 from his book before it was banned, and a subsequent TV documentary.

The McCanns told the Lisbon court staging the Amaral libel trial in the summer of 2014 they were left “devastated and crushed” by his allegations.

HOW MUCH HAS THE HUNT FOR MADELINE MCCANN COST POLICE SO FAR?

The search for Madeleine is about to reach its 10th year as the hunt continues.

Funding had been due to wind down but the Home Office since announced it has given an extra £85,000 to extend the Operation Grange hunt to September this year.

It comes as detectives say they have identified a specific individual they want to question.

The person was near the area where Madeleine went missing from and could be a Portuguese suspect.

Senior officers see the development as the “last throw of the dice” as total funding has now reached now £11.1 million.

The cost of the case has caused plenty of debate and infuriated Good Morning Britain viewers.

Top cop Sue declared the huge bill is a waste of taxpayers’ money – and urged the force to finally “put sentiment aside”.

WHAT OTHER THEORIES ARE THERE ABOUT MADDIE'S DISAPPEARANCE?

Mark Williams-Thomas, an investigative journalist and ex-police officer, revealed his theory about what happened the night Maddie went missing when he appeared on ITV’s This Morning on February 21.

According to the TV detective, Maddie left the apartment in search of her parents.

“I think Maddie was aware they were in the tapas bar in the resort. In order to get to the bar you have to come out of the premises, walk on a public road and go back in again.

“The concern I have, I believe she woke up and went looking for them, she left the apartment and came out, we already know the patio door was insecure.”

HOW MANY ALLEGED SIGHTINGS OF MADDIE HAVE THERE BEEN?

Potential sightings of the British three-year old followed up by British cops total 8,685 across 101 countries and territories, a Freedom of Information request by The Sun showed in October.

And there have been countless supposed sightings of Maddie if speculation such as that surrounding 'Maria' is included.

Most serious were the alleged sightings in the hours and days following Madeleine's disappearance.

On the night she was taken police received two separate potential sightings from members of the public -- however one was fully ruled out as being a holidaymaker with his daughter.

There were six reported sightings between May 4-17 in Portugal, including CCTV footage that showed a girl matching Maddie's description with two men and a woman at a petrol station in the town of Nelas.

Over the border in Spain there have been three reported sightings -- the latest being in April 2012 -- but all have been ruled out.

There have been roughly eight major alleged sightings in Morocco, two of which were in the immediate few days after her disappearance, leading to an Interpol investigation which was quickly closed.

British police have also been in the country chasing leads in the investigation.

    (Cont.)

    ReplyDelete
  61. (Cont.)

Beyond these three counties there have been numerous alleged sightings across the world, including two in Belgium and New Zealand, six in Brazil, one in Bosnia, Sweden and India and many more.

There were as many as 29 in Malta in the month after the disappearance which led to the capital Valletta being briefly locked down.

One of the most serious potential sightings in Amsterdam was revealed when Portuguese police released their case files in August 2008.

It showed a girl of blonde girl of Madeleine's age and description told a shopkeeper her name was "Maddie" and she had been "taken from mummy".

The McCann's were not made aware of this alleged sighting at the time it was reported to police and it is not clear how if at all investigators followed it up.

The Portuguese case files contained a 14-page section listing potential sightings across the world in only the year since she disappeared.

Leicestershire Police released their tip-off files to the McCann's in July 2008 containing 81 reported sightings in the first year of the investigation.

A list of sightings from each of the 101 countries - nearly all of which have been labelled NFA or No Further Action - was compiled by The Sun.

You may be right and we wrong, and about this we would love to be wrong, we would love to sense that the media was pushing towards the truth.

As far as we could see, comments continue to be about vilifying the McCanns and how neglectful they were.

People sense that something terrible but accidental may have happened to Maddie as accidents do happen to anyone they are forgiving about that. What they refuse to forgive is about something everyone feels they wouldn't do: leave the children locked up in an apartment and go have fun.

What the other side, as we call them, is counting on, is that people will not educate themselves. Not out of stupidity or even laziness but mostly out of distraction as there are too many cute or funny videos to see, life hacks to learn from, personality quizzes to take and other things on the internet to have the time to read more than what is fed.

But as we said, we may be wrong. Hopefully we are.

I think that we've reached a critical mass of people who are no longer afraid to say what they feel for fear of being sued. Never mind throwing good money after bad, it is about time they went back to Portugal, staged the reconstruction they refused to do, and answered the 40+ questions put to Kate. The poor child deserved better than the circus that has been created around her death.

The other comments still are there, for everyone to read.

I've read both books, Kate's Madeleine and Mr. Amaral's Truth of the Lie (the online version). Fiction versus facts. An interesting exercice.

Agree that is an educated comment, with which we fully agree.

But point is, how many educated comments are there in comparison with those accusing the McCanns of neglect?

We have no doubt that there are thousands of educated people on the case, but the media addresses the millions who aren't.

Comments as the one above should be encouraged and we have no problem in agreeing agree that they may influence people to go and educate themselves.

‘The only Madeleine McCann theory that stacks up’

    March 15, 20175:29pm
    Megan Palin

A CRIME expert who has analysed the high profile case of missing child Madeleine McCann claims the three-year-old was not abducted.

Investigative Criminal Profiler and Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann author Pat Brown told news.com.au that Scotland Yard bungled the investigation and slammed the crime fighting agency for “wasting time and money” on Madeleine’s case.

“Madeleine is dead,” Ms Brown said.

“There’s no point spending all of this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive.”

While profiling the case, Ms Brown developed a theory about what happened to Madeleine.

“When I do a crime scene analysis it is a theory based on evidence to then be given to police and used to look for more proof and evidence suitable for prosecution,” she said.

“When I analysed (Madeleine’s) case, it led me to believe evidence does not support an abduction.

“An abduction was extremely unlikely based on the amount of time, evidence at the scene, and every other shred of evidence there has ever been.”

Ms Brown said Madeleine most likely died an accidental death that was “covered up”.

“The evidence supports the theory of an accident occurring through neglect and possible medication,” she said.

“It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

Ms Brown’s comments come after British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann nearly 10 years ago were last week granted STG85,000 ($A136,935) to extend the search for a further six months.

The British Home Office has granted officers the funds to continue the probe until September.

There is one person who was near the area where Madeleine went missing who police want to speak to, the Sunday Express reported.

To date a total of STG11.1 million ($A17.9 million) has been spent looking for Madeleine.

“There are other children missing in the UK who aren't getting this attention that the money should have been spent on,” Ms Brown said.

Madeleine disappeared from the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal as her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends at a nearby restaurant in May 2007. If alive, Madeleine would now be 13 years old.

Ms Brown said Scotland Yard investigators made a mistake by ruling out suspects early on.

“You only eliminate someone as a suspect if they have an alibi and could absolutely not have committed the crime,” she said.

“It shouldn’t be based on theories.”

Ms Brown said the biggest mistake investigators made was examining and reviewing the case working to the theory that Madeleine had been abducted.

“They came in with a purpose and stated there was an abductor,” she said.

“Their focus was on finding a kidnapper.”

Ms Brown said there was “no evidence of an abduction” but that didn’t mean it hadn’t occurred.

“On the other hand it doesn’t mean it did,” she said.

“But because there’s no evidence of an abduction one has to look at other possibilities as well.”

Ms Brown said it was “extremely unlikely” anyone from a child sex ring would have abducted Madeleine. She said children could be illegally bought in some poor areas or “easily taken from drug addicts and prostitutes”.

    “Even blonde ones,” she said.

‘They’re not going to steal a British tourist from a holiday resort because they know that will prompt a major investigation into them.”

Kate and Gerry McCann, have always denied any involvement in her death and vowed to “never give up” hope of finding their daughter.

“As a parent of an abducted child, I can tell you that it is the most painful and agonising experience you could ever imagine,” Ms McCann wrote on the couple’s ‘find Madeleine’ website.

“My thoughts of the fear, confusion and loss of love and security that my precious daughter has had to endure are unbearable — crippling.

“And yet I am not the victim, Madeleine is.

“No child should ever have to experience something so terrible.”

Last month, Kate and Gerry McCann lost their appeal in Portugal’s Supreme Court over a controversial book by former detective Goncalo Amaral called The Truth of the Lie.

In it, he claimed Maddie had “died” and her abduction was a “cover-up”.

Amaral led the initial investigation into Madeleine’s apparent abduction.

The McCanns have lodged a formal complaint against the ruling and are reportedly considering taking their case to the European Court of Human Rights.

The parents are bracing themselves for the heart wrenching 10th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance in just a few weeks.

    SICK MADDIE CLAIMS
Portuguese crime expert launches vile attack on Kate and Gerry McCann over their daughter’s disappearance

Moita Flores says he has 'no doubt' Maddie died inside the holiday flat

MADELEINE McCann’s parents are facing fresh misery as a Portuguese crime expert spouts further outrageous claims over their daughter’s disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann, who are bracing themselves for the painful decade milestone since she vanished, have been at the centre of cruel criticism in recent weeks

But the latest vile attack comes from criminal investigator Moita Flores who has lashed out against the toddler’s parents, saying: “Maddie died in that apartment, I have no doubt.”

Flores, also a writer and commentator, was once attached to the Policia Judiciaria involved in the search for Maddie

His shocking outburst comes as police hunt for a worker from the Algarve resort they believe has clues about her disappearance.

Today McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell told The Sun Online: “Kate and Gerry will not be fuelling any of this pure speculation with any comment whatsoever.”

His comments were reported on a Portuguese website yesterday, where Flores asked: “Why this child when there are so many others who have disappeared?

He was referring to ex-GP Kate, 49, and heart doctor Gerry, 48, whose three-year-old daughter vanished from the family’s apartment in Praia da Luz while they were dining nearby with pals dubbed the “Tapas Seven.”

His views echo those of retired Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral who recently won a long-running libel battle against the McCanns on appeal.

Knocking down the abduction theory Flores added: “ It would have been impossible to get through a window with a child.”

Mr Flores is now urging British police to put some of their new £85,000 Home Office cash boost towards conducting a reconstruction in the resort.

He said: “It is the only way to resolve the case.”

Ex-cop Mr Amaral, who led the initial hunt for Maddie, has previously called for her parents and their holiday friends to fly to Portugal to relive the fateful night in May 2007.

He has always stated a full reconstruction could produce a vital breakthrough in the £13 million Scotland Yard investigation.

Ten years on from their daughter Maddie’s disappearance, Kate and Gerry have said that a police reconstruction after so many years would be “pointless.”

Mr Amaral, who wrote a controversial book about the case based on publically-released police files, previously said: “Reconstructions are very helpful and I believe a full one in this case could be very productive.

"We seem to be getting towards the end of the Operation Grange inquiry, the last roll of the dice, so what is there to lose?”

A McCann source today rubbished Mr Flores' comments.

He said: “There is no proof that Madeleine died in the holiday apartment or anywhere else, and until there is any shred of evidence her parents believe their daughter could still be alive.”

Referring to Mr Flores, the source added: “This person is presenting himself as a criminal expert and is regurgitating claims made by Mr Amaral, he is repeating all the old assertions it seems for shock value.

“Kate and Gerry took legal action against Mr Amaral and they won the case, although they later lost it on appeal.

"They don’t want to be litigious, and they can’t sue everyone, but it appears that people are saying whatever they like.”

The couple, from Rothley, Leics, have been subjected to a torrent of criticism this month.

LBC radio host and Social commentator Katie Hopkins, glamour model Jodie Marsh, MP’s estranged wife Karen Danczuk have all cruelly criticised them while on Monday retired Met Police officer Sue Hill slammed on breakfast TV the extra funding they were receiving as a waste of taxpayer’s money

While TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has defended Kate and Gerry, saying she thinks it was "OK" to leave their kids sleeping while out at a restaurant.

And while presenting Good Morning Britain this week, Piers Morgan sparked outrage defended the extra £85,000 fund to extend the case for another six months.

The outspoken host was praised for his comments by the McCanns.

A source close to Kate and Gerry added: “People need to remember that the family’s lawyers are kept fully informed of all social media and broadcast remarks which are malicious and libellous.”

The parents of Madeleine McCann are facing fresh heartbreak after a criminal investigator made an outrageous claim that their daughter 'died in the apartment'.

Moita Flores, a Portuguese crime expert, has lashed out at Kate, 49, and Gerry McCann, 48, as they approach the 10th anniversary of Maddie's disappearance.

Mr Flores, who was once involved with the Policia Judiciaria - who conducted the initial search - said: 'Maddie died in that apartment, I have no doubt.'

His outburst was reported on a Portuguese website and he questioned: 'Why this child when there are so many others who have disappeared?'

Referring to claims that the toddler was abducted, Mr Flores added: 'It would have been impossible to get through a window with a child', reports The Sun Online.

The comments come as police in the Algarve desperately search for a worker who may have clues about the disappearance in 2007.

Detectives believe the worker 'kept secrets' from them as they carried out the initial investigation almost 10 years ago.

An insider has revealed officers are searching for a Portuguese man who was nearby when the three-year-old went missing while on holiday in the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

The views of Mr Flores, 64, mirror those of police chief Goncalo Amaral. The Portuguese officer recently won a libel battle against the McCanns after appealing.

But Clarence Mitchell, a spokesman for the couple, from from Rothley, Leicestershire, said they will not be making a comment following Mr Flores' remarks.

He told The Sun Online: 'Kate and Gerry will not be fuelling any of this pure speculation with any comment whatsoever.'

Mr Flores, a researcher and a writer, wants British police to invest a portion of their new £85,000 Home Office money to fund a reconstruction project in the Algarve.

A McCann source told the website that there is 'no proof' that Maddie died in the apartment of 'anywhere else'.

He said: 'Until there is any shred of evidence her parents believe their daughter could still be alive.

'This person (Mr Flores) is presenting himself as a criminal expert and is regurgitating claims made by Mr Amaral, he is repeating all the old assertions it seems for shock value.'

Kate, a former GP and Gerry, a heart doctor, said they were 'very grateful' for the continued support by Scotland Yard.

It came amid fears the controversial £11.1million investigation into Maddie's disappearance, codenamed Operation Grange, was being shelved.

    SICK MADDIE 'COVER-UP' CLAIMS
Madeleine McCann’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann suffer fresh heartache as second crime expert claims ‘Maddie died in that apartment’

US criminal profiler Pat Brown insists 'Madeleine is dead' in astonishing rant claiming accidental death was covered up

MADELEINE McCann’s parents faced fresh heartache today as a second criminal investigator claimed their daughter “died in the holiday apartment”.

American profiler Pat Brown brutally insisted “Madeleine is dead”, adding in an outrageous rant: “There’s no point spending all of this money as nothing they do is going to make that child be found alive.”

Ms Brown’s intervention – without a shred of evidence – comes less than 24 hours after Portuguese crime expert Moita Flores voiced similar unfounded claims.

They piled fresh misery on Kate and Gerry as they prepare for the painful tenth anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance from their Algarve holiday flat in May 2007.

Ms Brown, 62, who runs a crime agency in the US, blasted Scotland Yard’s £12million Operation Grange probe into the case.

She told Australian website news.com.au she believes Maddie was never snatched, saying: “An abduction was extremely unlikely based on the amount of time, evidence at the scene, and every other shred of evidence there has ever been.”

She believes the three-year-old died in accidental death that was “covered up” through neglect and possible medication.”

She added chillingly: “It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

The author and TV crime analyst spoke out after Scotland Yard was granted an extra £85,000 to fund the search for another six months as detectives seek to quiz another witness.

Ms Brown said: “There are other children missing in the UK who aren’t getting this attention that the money should have been spent on.”

Her astonishing attack continued as she claimed the Met Police made a mistake by ruling out suspects early on.

She told the website: “You only eliminate someone as a suspect if they have an alibi and could absolutely not have committed the crime. It shouldn’t be based on theories.

“Their focus was on finding a kidnapper. But the evidence supports the theory of an accident occurring through neglect and possible medication.”

She said that whilst there was “no evidence of an abduction” it couldn’t be ruled out.

Former GP Kate, 49, and heart doctor Gerry, 48, from Rothley, Leics, are clinging onto a glimmer of hope their daughter could still be alive. She would now be aged 13, nearly 14.

The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said today: “Kate and Gerry will not be fuelling any of this pure speculation with any comment whatsoever.”

A source close to the family added: “There is no proof that Madeleine died in the holiday apartment or anywhere else, and until there us any shred of evidence her parents believe their daughter could still be alive.

“This so called criminal expert is regurgitating claims made by former Portuguese police officer Goncalo Amaral, she is repeating all the old assertions it seems for shock value.

“Kate and Gerry took legal action against Mr Amaral and they won the case, although they later lost it on appeal.

LBC radio host Katie Hopkins, glamour model Jodie Marsh and Selfie Queen Karen Danczuk have criticised Maddie’s parents over the past fortnight.

And on Monday retired Met Police officer Sue Hill slammed the extra funding for the case as a waste of taxpayers’ money on Good Morning Britain.

Under such a regime The Sun would certainly flourish as never before, with Tracey Kandohla as chief editor.

Shock as expert says Brit cops ‘wasting time’ searching for Maddie – because ‘she’s dead’

A TOP criminal profiler has said Brit police searching for Madeleine McCann were “wasting time and money” because “she is dead”.

By Jerry Lawton / Published 16th March 2017

Pat Brown, 62, who runs her own crime agency in the US, said she had analysed the youngster’s 2007 disappearance from her parents’ holiday flat in Portugal.

The author and TV crime analyst said: “Madeleine is dead. There is no point in spending all this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive.

“It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

Ms Brown, who has written a book called Profile Of The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann, blasted the Met’s £12million six-year investigation.

The Home Office has given the Met an extra £85,000 to continue investigating for at least another six months.

Police revealed the probe was focused on a single “person of interest”, a worker at the McCanns’ Praia da Luz resort.

Ms Brown said: “There are children missing in the UK who aren’t getting this attention.”

Her claims were backed yesterday by criminologist Moita Flores, who was involved in the original police investigation.

He said he had “no doubt” the youngster was dead and felt cash should be used on a reconstruction of the night Madeleine vanished as “it is the only way to resolve the case’’.

Madeleine’s doctor parents Kate, 49, and Gerry, 48, who are facing the 10th anniversary of her disappearance on May 3, continue to believe she is still alive.

Crime Expert Claims To Know ‘How And Where’ Madeleine McCann Died

Criminal investigator Moita Flores, who was once attached to the Policia Judiciaria involved in the search for Maddie, attempted to dampen the theory that Maddie was abducted from the apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve. He told Portuguese website Flash! it would have been ‘impossible to get through a window with a child’.

He said he had ‘no doubt’ that Kate and Gerry McCann’s daughter died in the apartment.

Maddie, then three-years-old, disappeared on May 3 2007 while her parents ate at a tapas bar in the resort just 55 metres away.

On holiday with her parents and her two-year-old twin siblings, she and the twins had been left asleep at 8:30pm in a ground-floor apartment.

The McCann’s checked on the children throughout the evening, until discovering Maddie was missing around 10:00pm.

Flore’s comment comes as police hunt for an Algarve resort worker they believe has clues about her disappearance. Detectives believe the worker ‘kept secrets’ from them in the initial investigation almost ten years ago.

Last month, investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas told This Morning that he believed Maddie woke up in the middle of the night and went to look for her parents, leaving the apartment through an ‘insecure’ back door.

The search for Maddie has since been extended for an additional six months as police have been given an extra £85,000 to continue their investigation.

Portuguese crime expert: 'Madeleine McCann died in that apartment'

    By Emma Dodds
    16 Mar 2017 10:59

As the 10-year anniversary of Madeleine McCann's disappearance looms, Portuguese crime expert Moita Flores claims that Maddie "died in the apartment"

Nearly 10 years after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, her case continues to stay in the public eye.

With the police given an extra £85,000 by Prime Minister Theresa May to keep the case open earlier this week, the total cost comes to £11.1m.

And a Portuguese crime expert has now claimed he thinks the three-year-old died in the apartment.

Moita Flores, who used to work in connection with the Policia Judiciaria, the Portuguese police who began the initial search, said: "Maddie died in that apartment, I have no doubt."

Reported on a Portuguese website, Flores apparently asked: "Why this child when there are so many others who have disappeared?"

He then commented on the abduction theory, saying: "It would have been impossible to get through a window with a child."

Clarence Mitchell, the spokesman for the McCanns told The Sun Online: "Kate and Gerry will not be fuelling any of this pure speculation with any comment whatsoever."

A source told the site: "There is no proof that Madeleine died in the holiday apartment or anywhere else, and until there is any shred of evidence her parents believe their daughter could still be alive."

They then said of Mr Flores: "This person is presenting himself as a criminal expert and is regurgitating claims made by Mr Amaral, he is repeating all the old assertions it seems for shock value."

The Mr Amaral referred to is Goncalo Amaral, the police officer who led the search for Maddie. He then wrote a book called The Truth of the Lie, claiming that Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate, faked an abduction story to cover up her death.

This comes after many celebrities have recently expressed their opinions on the case.

Jodie Marsh launched a Twitter rant about the parents last month, in which she said: "If it were my child I'd be on my hands & knees digging up the earth with my bare hands."

Karen Danczuk's opinion echoed Jodie's, as she wrote: "Anyone who says McCanns are innocent, just remember they left three children under the age of four alone to go out. Either way they have guilt!"

But property expert and TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp came to the defence of the McCanns this week, tweeting: "Have always though the McCanns did nothing wrong leaving the kids asleep nearby, it's something people have done worldwide since time began."

What do YOU think? Do you agree with Jodie and Karen, or do Kirstie's views make more sense to you? Let us know over on Facebook and Twitter.

Inspector explains her EXPLOSIVE Madeleine McCann theory

    Mar 17, 2017

The criminal profiler whose Madeleine McCann theory has gone global steps Jade Robran through her reasoning on FIVEaa.

This week Pat Brown sensationally went public with her belief Maddie was never abducted, and instead died inside her parents’ Portugal apartment.

“I’ve been looking at this case for almost as long as the case has been around, which is now ten years,” she told Jade on Thursday. “I have found no evidence of abduction, there’s certainly nothing that supports that evidence physically, or behaviourally or circumstantially. Absolutely nothing.”

“But there’s a lot of evidence in another direction and that is what has really been suppressed a lot in recent years by the UK press and by the US press as well.”

Brown’s theory largely agrees with one put forward by the former lead investigator into Maddie’s supposed abduction, Goncalo Amaral, in a book called ‘The Truth of the Lie’.

Last month Amaral won a long legal challenge by the McCanns over the book…

“The McCanns sued him and had his book taken off the market and it went through the courts for many years and now has gone all the way to the Supreme Court of Portugal, and they have ruled in his favour,” Brown said.

“[The judge] even came out and said the McCanns have never been cleared.

“When I came into the case and analysed all the evidence… I came to the same conclusion. I do support his conclusions.”

Brown said “quite a few experts” also agreed:

“It’s not only one person who believes this, that the evidence supports that the parents might be involved in what happened to Madeleine.

“It appears to me the evidence supports that something occurred, there was an accident while [the parents] were not there, and therefore Madeleine expired in the apartment.”

“You look for the totality of evidence, all of the pieces of evidence put together.”
