Tapas Quiz Night, Question #5/?

Question: What are the two most well known things that shrink to fit?
Answer: The Levi 112 jeans and the T9 Tapas Table #211.

Today, I must apologise to our readers. I’ve always tried, when posting here information, to look at any subject from all possible perspectives so that, through pure logic, I’m able to PROVE before you whatever I’m trying to PROVE in that particular moment.

However, I must warn you that today’s post will be total speculation.

You see, I’m forced to rely on information given to me by others, and have nothing but their sources to corroborate it.

For example, about the jeans, having long lost the figure and long overcome the sensible age to use them, I have to rely on Levi’s advertisement that the 112 jeans do, in fact, shrink to fit to a woman’s body.

Maybe some of our younger readers can confirm that fact, although, honestly, it’s really not that important, nor is it about clothes that I wish to to talk about today.

I want to talk about the Tapas Bar table #211.

For that, as I said, I have to rely on what the Ocean Club tells us, and like with the jeans, I have to trust what they say.

And they say, as per the first three Tapas reservation sheets that the T9 (4 couples and a mother-in-law), had dinner, for at least 3 days, at a table with ref #211:

The famous Tapas T9 BIG ROUND TABLE. But the OC also tell us that, as per respective Tapas “reservation” sheet of May 7th, that on that night, at 19:45, the STINTON-HEELEY family ALSO used that particular table:

A rather difficult decision to understand, after all, as far as we can see, only 4 other tables were being used at the time (#201, #202, #203 and #205).

Sitting ONLY 4 people around such a BIG ROUND TABLE, is not, shall we say, the most comfortable way to have guests dine:
It is possible, no question about it, but as I said before, and we’re speculating here, it just doesn't seem practical, especially taking into account that 2 members of this family were, as they were, children. Wouldn’t be more sensible to sit them on any of the other available square tables?

But that was not the decision of whoever managed the seating arrangements that evening.

The only possibility I see for this decision to make any sense, is that table #211 is an INFLATABLE round table.

That way, it was filled up to the size required to fit the T9, and on May 7th, someone let the air out of it so it would “shrink to fit” the STINTON-HEELEY family!

The other option, which is that 2 adults and two children really dined around that BIG ROUND TABLE (that had enough space for at least 9 adults, or 10 if you count also the fact that Najoua joined the table on Quiz Night), can only be explained by a direct request from this family to sit at the same table that the T9 had sat on the night when Maddie was “abducted”.

Then, we hope, and don't forget that we’re continuing to speculate, they certainly would have taken pictures of that evening, that dinner and, most important of all, that table.

And since Dianne Webster missed the opportunity to publish her pictures on Kate’s book, maybe this is our last chance to get a glimpse of this famous table!

  1. Anon 3;01 exactly - the tapas dinners is one disorganised lie and now thanks to Textusa's observations it is all falling apart.

  2. Team McCann are even more despicable then you think, Anon at 12.06 pm. It is very clear from their own Facebook page that they are not fulfilling orders even for such things as posters and "travel packs" from their high quality online shop, judging from the number of comments asking when they will receive the "goods" they have paid for. They are utterly shameless. Unfortunately the poor suckers on that page continue to believe in them, and continue to submit their pathetic little poems and prayers and virtual candles. It is very telling that no comments or questions from anyone expressing the slightest smidgeon of doubt in their heroes are ever allowed to remain.

  4. You're right, but we all have to give Textusa most of the credit for there not being more discussion about the content's of the various posts. She's crystal clear, and backs up of all her statements. The research done by the team is just outstanding. For example, this post, what is there else to say besides what she's said? No restaurant would sit a family in an enormous table when there were others available where to sit them. She's slowly, tablespoon by tablespoon, making the BH sand castle cave in. And they can't do anything about it besides threats and insults. They pretend that they can't read and keep on saying, over and over, that what is transparent and evident for all just isn't for them, and because it isn't for them, it just isn't. I remember one Textusa's post a long time ago where she said that for a BH to believe that the Sun does exists they would demand that you went and fetched it for them and placed it in their hands. Anything less, they would keep saying that the Sun was a myth even if daylight is visible to all. And even with the Sun burning away their hands, they would still find some sort of excuse to be able to continue to say that it didn't exist. For a BH it's either convenient it exists or it doesn't exist at all. It's a hopeless effort and whoever tries is just wasting his or her time.
I think this thread proved something very important and that is that the Textusa "family" is united and is determined. This scares the pants off the BH.

  5. I think this post proves something very important and that is that table 211 is a fixed table. This is very important because not ONLY the guests that stayed at OC during that week, but ALL guests that went there for that WHOLE summer had the opportunity to take a picture taht captured that table! And not only dinners but during the day. You know, pictures of people by the pool and in the background the Tapas bar. Such table should be of a dimension easily seen. So there should be dozens if not hundreds of pictures that contradict Textusa's allegations. Where are they? There aren't any because the table is a piece of fiction endorsed by guests and the OC! Well done Textusa!

  6. What a sorry mess this whole affair now has become.

What is the state of affairs in the Portuguese civil court action of Murat vs Tanner? Anything going on?

And how far is GA in the procedings concerning the libel case?

    Anyone in the know?

  7. Brilliant Textusa, the BH are running scared they know it is only a matter of time before this case is re-opened.

Great Tex - we love you.

  9. Textusa, I think you should seriously consider Insane's proposal for you guys to replace the current disclaimer you have up.

Notice that this person now speaks of heavy fines rather than defamatory compensations, so is not only an "expert" on libel law, but on commercial law as well!!!

Only one helluva scared person could write something like that. There's no insanity in those words, only fear.

  12. Hi Textusa,

I don't know if the Tapas gang did or did not sit at a big round table, but I would just like to relate my experience in dealing with big round tables. I worked a few months as a busboy during the summer many years ago when I was seventeen. And I along with my work colleagues set up large banquet halls. I do remember setting up many many round tables. We each rolled a table on its edge as if we were rolling a tire. Then when the table was at the location we wanted it to be we would unfold the legs and prop it up. At first I had some issues with run away tables but I later became an expert at it. If I remember correctly, the tables I rolled when they were on edge were as tall or taller than I am. I'm about 5ft 10 in. Mathematically, if 9 people are sitting at a table, and you allow 2 ft of circumference for each person then the total circumference would be 18 ft. The circumference for a circle is PI multiplied by the diameter. So you should be able to accomodate 9 people at a round table of approximately 6 ft in diameter.

That being said, if you look at the following video by Martin Brunt, he is sitting at a table that he claims the McCanns were sitting at and it appears that the table is not a true round table but more of an oval table, with round ends that were joined together. Of course we can't be sure that it's the exact table that was used by the McCanns and their friends.

Your blog always provides interesting reading. I hope your family member gets better and I hope Ironside is doing well. All the best.

  13. Guerra,

The key words in your comment are "large banquet halls". Yes, facilities which provide for large parties, such as weddings and other kind banquets, use those "rolling" tables that you speak of. But Tapas is not exactly a banquet hall, is it?

You bring up a very interesting point, and that is could Kate confuse round with oval? That is giving one enormous benefit of a doubt as one learns shapes in primary school, but let's suppose that that is what happened. The question is about the size, as you so quite adequately describe, of the thing and not the roundness. It would stick up in a small place like Tapas, and yet the waiters are inexplicably vague when they talk about it, and we just haven't been able to see pictures of the thing, be it round or oval.

The link you provided is precious. Notice on 1:46, when Brunt stands up from the supposed table... where are ANY other tables? As you'll see in the post I've just published, QN #6, there were supposed to be there 11 tables. So if there are no other tables, the likelihood of that table being really THE table are slim. And most likely, the best they could do was to come up with an oval table, as a round one would be, as you describe, even more cumbersome.

    Thank you for your comment.

  16. Oval tables are not common in portuguese restaurants, I can't remember ever having seen one. In Portugal, oval tables are common in one's houses, but are in reality round tables, extensible, that when fully opened turn into oval shapped ones.
