2014 Christmas Break

It’s Christmas time. The time of year the blog takes a break.

Even though a lot of activity around the Maddie case seems to be going to take place in the next week, we see no reason to break with tradition.

We see foresee three things: the fulfilment of SY’s 5th rogatory letter, written back in August and whereby 11 people at request of the Met will be questioned by PJ, the final allegations in the McCann v Amaral damages trial and Brenda Leyland’s Pre Inquest Review.

The Death of a Whitewashing

An Alentejo House with it's typical "Murat finishing"

The Alentejo is that part of Portugal’s territory immediately north of Algarve and goes all the way up to the river Tejo, as a general reference.

It stretches across two thirds of central and southern Portugal and takes in undulating prairies, endless olive trees, cork trees, wheat fields, white-washed houses, Roman ruins, charming towns and an all embracing tranquillity.

Its houses are very typical. Post-card typical. White-washed with a vibrant blue, or dark yellow, stripe on its contours which is what gives them their unmistakable identity.

The simplistic but remarkable contrast of this against the remainder of its whitewashed walls have made these houses centrepieces of many an artist’s work.

Haywhimee, Roses and Thorns

(image from here)

Haywhimee is a little town that doesn’t exist. It’s located in the middle of our imagination.

Yet we think it’s of crucial importance to the Maddie case. We would even say it’s where the solution to the case lies.

Haywhimee is very peculiar. There are many Haywhimeeans but none do in fact live in Haywhimee. The main reason being that Haywhimee doesn’t exist, as we said.

But although Haywhimee is fictional, Haywhimeeans are not. They are very real.

SY - The Movie

It has been said that Euclides Monteiro was the reason for the PJ to have reopened the Maddie process that was archived in 2008.

It was also said that PJ have abandoned the Euclides-lead and are now focusing on a foreigner who never lived in Portugal. Euclides and a foreigner. That’s how many suspects we have been told exist on the Portuguese investigation. Not saying they were the only ones but that they’re the only ones the press has reported since PJ reopened the case in 2013.

The British have been much, much more imaginative. This post will try to show you just how much.

The “The McCann Hunting Party 11”, one of the most expensive “games” ever to have taken place is reaching a decisive phase.

The battle is raging.

Sweet 16

With the visit to INML in Coimbra on 16OCT2014, SY has put forensics back on top of the table in the Maddie case.

In our post “SY’s Significant Moves” we said that in our opinion the Met wanted to bring greater visibility to forensics about Maddie. We are here to help that effort. Do our part.

SY's Significant Moves (with 20OCT2014 Post-Scriptum)

We don’t like to fit pieces into the puzzle. They belong where they belong and nowhere else. When a piece is placed where it belongs, that happens because it fits and doesn’t need to be made to fit.

It will always be the piece of the puzzle that will tell us where it belongs and not the other way around.

New Pieces, Same Game

Too much going on. It’s like someone dumped a new big load of puzzle pieces on our table.

Let’s go bit by bit. Let’s make a list of what we witnessed lately:

Maddie's Pandora's Box

Update on Friday, 03OCT14 09:00:

We are leaving the present post for another week, as we think its relevance can be assessed in the light of recent developments on twitter.

Any action seems to have a counter-reaction and we wait with interest to see what that counter-reaction might be.

The best way to see how this chess game is being played is to spend time analysing the moves. So that's what we will focus our attention on this week – watching, rather than writing.

***************************

We think many in the Maddie case are confusing a moment of glory for glory itself.

Confusing the “Raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima” with the “V-J Day”.

Summers by Summers

Mr Summers is an artist of his own.

We won’t call him a writer because he doesn’t appear to be one. We won’t call him a journalist because, as we’ll show you, he demonstrates he isn’t really one.

In any library there are the fiction and the non-fiction areas. Some advocate there should be a third section which is neither. They call it fantasy.

Losing v Not Winning

The McCanns will not lose in the damages trial in Lisbon. In fact, they cannot lose it.

Please read on – it's not what you are thinking.

Sky News - The Clarifying Report

(video here)

It seems that an unpublished report from CEOP commissioned by former Home Secretary Alan Johnson in 2009 and handed over in 2010 – has concluded that because so many UK agencies got involved in an uncoordinated manner, damaged relations with Portuguese police.

This obviously hampered the Maddie investigation.

Bombshelling

No, on this day she hadn't lost a child. She just had a trial session postponed.

Mr Amaral stunned everyone on Monday.

We don’t think a single soul wasn’t surprised by the bombshell Mr Amaral dropped on this case when he decided to relieve his lawyer from his duties.

Class Acts

Pic from JH Forum
No, not acts of class but acts of a class: the Modern Era’s Nobility, also referred to by us as the Establishment.

Maddie’s case is, as we all have unfortunately come to realise, filled with novelties. One of its biggest, and we dare say surprising, involves SY.

For the first time in history a police force, the Met, was ordered to solve an already solved case.

SY Contradicting SY

SY, the pawn, has been moved on the board of this sick game the Maddie affair has become  A significant move. They have now as intended, set foot on Praia da Luz, right on PJ’s doorstep, or rather, right in their living room.

Paedo v Nepio

BLUF: If Maddie's death had anything to do with paedophilia then Maddie would have to have been a victim of a nepiophile. In turn, nepiophilia is absolutely incompatible with any sort of cover-up.

In our post “Speed”, we received the following comment:

Anonymous 15 Apr 2014 19:42:00

Textusa,
I don’t subscribe your swinging theory. It makes sense, it’s possible and I agree it would warrant a cover-up. I happen to think there’s something greater to cover-up than swinging: paedophilia.
You have called it a Stink Bomb and I’m curious about your explanations why you think that.
I don’t think it’s a Stink Bomb at all and think it’s the big secret behind the cover-up.
You point the finger at Payne in having to do with Maddie’s death (I recall you being the first to do that in Joana’s) but have minimised all possibility of all this being the lid being kept on a a paedo crime committed by Payne.
He was identified by Yvonne Martin as paedo, or involved in paedo processes in UK. He was very rude to her.
The Gaspars identify clearly paedo behaviours in his conversation with Gerry when talking about Maddie.
Gerry has an empty CATS files.
He bathed other people’s little children during the holiday where the Gaspars were present. He bathed Gaspars’ daughter, for example.
He was the last person to see Maddie alive and describes the situation in very strange terms of white angels and all so peaceful.
There are also other things that make me thing that this is all about paedophilia:
He is the one that suggests and organises the holiday and he is the one that says who stays in what apartment
He is the one that doesn’t need to check his children because he has a baby monitor that works great distances and because of this is the only male of the group who doesn’t leave the dinner table.
He is the one who filmed that moment with Gerry swearing in front of all including children on an airport bus and I think he was the one who uploaded the video on YouTube.
He was the one that was heard in the rogatory statements after the Portuguese cops had left the UK. All others were heard when they were there. Also I think he says that the right forum is not to be there answering the rogatory questions.
I think all this points much more to paedophilia than to swinging. So why call it a Stink Bomb like you have?”

Dear Anon,

Thank you for your comment. Paedophilia is a very sensitive issue to talk about.

Person of Interest

UPDATE (23May2014 09:00):

We inform our readers that we will be keeping this post for another week.

The reason is we want to be inconvenient. Very inconvenient. We think it is inconvenient because we think it is an important piece of the puzzle.

To those who we are not inconveniencing, we hope you understand our decision.

********************

BLUF: The fact that PJ considers Euclides Monteiro a person of interest to the Maddie case means PJ is looking into Ocean Club, or some of its personnel, as active participants.

Who is Euclides Monteiro?

And the answer is: nobody.

And that, dear readers, is of the utmost importance and we hope to show you how really important is this fact that Euclides is simply a nobody.

Let’s get our facts straight about what we know about Euclides.

PdL - The Game Board

A Scotland Yard agent looking for Maddie in Praia da Luz

As we said over 3 years ago in our “Blogeditorial Decision on the "Maddie McCann Case"” post (18Feb11), churnalism does not set the agenda in our blog.

We have also said that the most apparently nonsensical thing about this case has to be looked at attentively. Very little is random and what is intentional most of the times escapes the common eye as we have shown repeatedly here.

Now with all this transforming Praia da Luz into a huge “Where’s Wally?” game board to look for Maddie’s body we witnessed a hysteria beyond our understanding.

This whole Let’s–dig–PdL–up is ridiculous. Everyone knows it’s ridiculous and yet hysteria has led people down the path of discussing how ridiculous it is. As useless as discussing how wet water is.

If Death is Kind

7 years and around 2H30 hours after she departed

Perhaps if Death is kind, and there can be returning,
We will come back to earth some fragrant night,
And take these lanes to find the sea, and bending
Breathe the same honeysuckle, low and white.

We will come down at night to these resounding beaches
And the long gentle thunder of the sea,
Here for a single hour in the wide starlight
We shall be happy, for the dead are free.

What next?

That is the question that is on everyone’s mind. Not only to those interested in the issue but in the general public's mind.

It’s becoming impossible to determine what is serious and what is a joke.

Why Swing?

We picked this up in the JH forum:

http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/oa/OA5_1/o_apenso_1_Vol_5_p875.jpg

After this many pages of swinging /swingers I was looking through many and at this page it was definitely adult swinging before that the searches turned up swinging houses but let me see if I can post the main link and keep scrolling after page 875 that's where there were many more
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/OUSTROS_APENSOS_1_5.htm

Very, very interesting. Right up our alley, so to speak. That meant we just had to get our hands right in on it.

And were we in for a surprise, or better said, 8 surprises:

STINK BOMBS

We have exposed and explained one of the most important and recurrent phenomenon that afflicts all related to Maddie: CLUTTER.

How and why CLUTTER was and is implanted and how very effective it is. This was done in our post Clutter - From Here to TIMBUCKTOO (08Nov2010).

All we have to do is to think how great and popularly ingrained is the relationship between the words “McCann” and “negligence” to get the idea.
But almost from the start, together with the CLUTTER, we have had another phenomenon that we are continuously bombarded with and which is easily mistaken for CLUTTER: STINK BOMBS.

UK CW's 2nd Update

If you don't understand logo, see end of post

When UK Crimewatch was shown in October last year, everyone was furious.

Everyone except us. We were merely disappointed

The day after it was aired, in our post The Beginning of the End of an Institution (15Oct13) we expressed the reasons as to why: Maddie had unfortunately become a game and the “other side” had not been exactly too picky when picking its visible players, of whom Redwood was the face.

Political Courage

(original video here)

As our regular readers know, we have a policy of publishing new posts on Fridays, unless we find a reason to do otherwise.

Last Friday, we made an exception. We decided to postpone the publishing of the post we had lined up, “Stink Bombs”, and keep the post The Proof that Ocean Club Reads Textusa for an extra week. We explained the reasons why.

The Proof Ocean Club Reads Textusa

UPDATE on 14 MAR 2014 09:01:00:

There are two ways to sing fado, Portugal’s typical most traditional music: the Lisbon way or the Coimbra one.

The fado from Coimbra has a very peculiar way of being applauded. No clapping.

The spectator, if pleased, has to simply produce the sound of clearing the throat. The idea is to have the spectator pretend not to have paid much attention and having him acknowledging, very discreetly, the artistic performance.

And it can be one of the most fascinating sounds ever produced collectively.

Swinging Evidence

There is one thing that is absolutely consensual among all of us who are familiar with the Maddie case and that is there’s a cover-up.

And it’s also consensual that we all think this cover-up involves the “British hierarchy” up to its government. That it’s a very high-level cover-up (VHLCU).

But what this VHLCU has intended to cover is far from being consensual.

Nor who is involved in it, generally speaking, or why.

Chasing Cars & Doctors

1. Chasing Cars...

When the PJ checked previous renters of the Renault Scenic 59-DA-27, they were asked a number of questions, including whether they knew the McCann family. The driver but one before the McCanns was Kenneth Walkden, who was interviewed on April 29th 2008. He hired the car between March 25th and April 1st 2007 for a golfing holiday with some friends. The distance travelled in the car was 945km.

He doesn’t say which golf course they were playing on, but the Boavista or Parque da Floresta may have been amongst the possible destinations. The trip was organised by his friend P S and Mr Walkden said that they all went on holiday together every year.  Maybe to the same venue? The Scenic was also used by a number of golfers other than the Walkden party.

Chasing Staff

Recent churnalism about Scotland Yard interest in Ocean Club related suspects led us to revisit the Devil’s Finger post and Robert Murat’s statement that Madeleine’s disappearance had to be an inside job. His words: “If you want my opinion, it had to involve someone on the inside who works at the Ocean Club.”

The alleged note in the receptionist’s book, stating that the group were leaving children unattended whilst they dined, has never been found in the PJ files. So where did Kate find it, as she claimed?

Swinging FMS

Our post “Covering-up the Cover-up” got a surprisingly pleasant surge of visitors.  As we have said before, we’re unable to judge the popularity of each post before publication.

It obviously made us glad that the interest in the issue remains high, especially in times where the media and the chronologically erratic Portuguese justice system are, in our opinion unintentionally, tiring people out on this subject.

Covering-up the Cover-up

There are two-words that are joined at the hip with the Maddie case: negligence and cover-up.

One, as we know, has been made up and is part of the second. However the second, cover-up, is not exactly true.  At least in the way that you are reading it.

That there’s a cover-up, is an unquestionable fact.

Daniel Abreu

Daniel Abreu, the little 18 month old missing boy in Madeira was found alive. That is VERY good news.

Really good news indeed.

He was found Wednesday, the 22nd, around 08.00 by a worker, Manuel Teixeira, around 30/40 yards from the pathway near a small water canal, levada, more than a mile from his house.

Serial Journalism

Remember our May 2009 post “The McCann Game, shortly out of tricks?” where we tried to show how every “trick” played meant there was one less to be played?

That post is now 56 months old.

With the exception of the book (a possibility we never thought possible to be stupid enough to write such a thing) we have all this time witnessed repeats of the same tricks, over and over again: another sighting, another documentary, another presence in a TV show and another suspect.

Rats

We would like to welcome our readers back to the blog after the Christmas holidays. We hope it was a time to value the presence of your loved ones as well as a gruelling and torturous marathon of delicious treats for the body.

We’re in 2014. That means that this year, in May, Maddie can be declared officially dead. If an application for a declaration is made as it will be 7 years that she’s been missing.

We don't think there will be a need for such an application. We anticipate that Maddie will be considered, officially, dead before May 2014.

Thank you, Eusebio

Portugal is in mourning. This post is 24 hours too late. It took us 24 hours to gather words of friends and family to include in this tribute.

Eusebio was consensually taken as a very good person. We think he really was a very good person.

He was not simply a genius, he was a simple genius.

People pilgrimaged to see him play. All genders. Families. His passion for the game transpired outside all stadiums and national borders. It was about people in general and families. He did cross those borders for everyone to see him as a man first and a sportsman second. He brought football to people who never watch it or has the slightest interest in it. If anyone would tempt anyone to watch football, Eusebio would.

He was driven to the point of sainthood by the regime before 1974. He was one of the 3 “Fs” of the official propaganda: Family, Fatima and Football.

The Football was Eusebio.

Never involved in any sort of scandal. Never a star. Never his name linked to a headline that wasn’t about his greatness, as a man, as sportsman, as a citizen.

The biggest star in a team in which he never stopped calling his captain by “Mr Coluna” and in which he asked permission to take penalty kicks.

His sportsmanship was truly an example. A genuinely humble true sportsman. He couldn’t stand losing but was always, but always, a kind winner. There isn’t one adversary who ever felt anything but honour to be defeated by him.

But it is not only his sportsmanship we would like to highlight.

Eusebio was a Mandela. He lived in two wall less prisons. One, his race, the other the regime who made him an idol.

He was a black man in a white man’s world. In a white man’s time. A time when a black man was only considered human if a sportsman or a singer and even then always manacled to the colour of skin seen like a circus act. Eusebio was never such. Eusebio was a man. Truly loved and respected as such.

The regime made him a symbol. As we said, almost to the point of sainthood. So much so that Salazar clearly and openly determined that he could not be bought by any club in the world, including Real Madrid, a club Eusebio loved.

But Eusebio didn’t become the symbol of Portugal because of the regime. He became by his own right. He was Eusebio. He was Portugal. One couldn’t speak of one without mentioning the other, one couldn’t think of one without thinking of the other.

When the regime crumbled, Eusebio's greatness remained immaculate. The regime used him but he was always superior to the regime.

He was a truly global phenomenon before globalisation. The biggest star in the first televised, thus global, sport phenomenon: 1966 World Cup in Britain.

He never left Portugal and yet he was known all over the world. The world only realised where Portugal was because of Eusebio.

Eusebio was a Mandela because like Mandela he was a uniter. Way, way beyond football.

Portugal loved him and loved to be represented by him.

Today we all love football. We all love Eusebio.

But more than loved, which he will always will be, he will be remembered and respected.
