NO VIOLATION BY PORTUGAL

Just a quick note:

The McCanns can request referral to Grand Chamber and they have 3 months to do it, but in our opinion, it’s unlikely to be granted.

Update on Oct 18, 2022

It seems the McCanns filed an "appeal" to prolong the process.

Although it's our opinion that that it will not be admitted, in case it is this could delay matters for another 3 years, if we are interpreting this correctly:

https://www.echr.coe.int/Documents/FAQ_GC_ENG.pdf

A decision on admissibility comes first, then a possible wait of 3 years if application is admitted.

That would allow for OG to continue so that FOIs can be denied on the basis they could interfere with an ongoing investigation.

McCann ECHR Decision - September 20, 2022

Note how the Daily Mail gives these news.

By reading the link, one is lead to believe the McCanns won:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11215227/Madeleine-McCanns-parents-finally-Tuesday-won-14-YEAR-libel-battle.html

Or basically: “Madeleine McCann parents finally Tuesday won 14 YEAR libel battle”

One, on reading this, would be certain that the McCanns won, Portugal (not Amaral) has lost and that it was all about libel!

It doesn’t say which Tuesday and it doesn’t say “if they have won”. It just says, WON, past tense. On a Tuesday, misleading readers into thinking it was last Tuesday.

But opening up the article, this is what Nick Pisa has to say:

EXCLUSIVE: Madeleine McCann’s parents will finally find out on Tuesday if they have won 14-YEAR libel battle against cop who suggested they were to blame for the girl’s disappearance

- A 2008 book suggested the McCanns were responsible for the disappearance

- The Portuguese officer was taken off the investigation after a 27-year career

- The McCanns fought back against the initial ruling on an appeal in Portugal

Maria CR - Rest in Peace

Very bad and sad news, Maria CR has passed away. On the 19th.

With her Portenglish she was a true warrior fighting Maddie’s and Amaral’s colours.

About Maddie she never for a single minute accepted the injustice and the disrespect the girl was subject to. And she never accepted for a minute the lies, both the blatant one as well as the ones cloaked as truth.

About Amaral, she accepted all his flaws and understood why he had many of “them”. She knew him to be human like the rest of us and also understood very quickly what he was really up against.

The world has lost a good heart and I have lost a very special friend. Someone who will leave a huge hole in my heart.

Maria and I were friends almost since the beginning of the blog. In fact, one of the many things that is creeping into my mind is not remembering our first encounter. Not that we met in person that often but during these many years we kept in contact so often and closely that very quickly it became a friendship that was much more about the case.

Until today her silence meant that she was just a phone call away. Months would go by, and then one of us would decide to meet up and it was truly like we had met the previous day and were going to meet again the day after. We both knew how much we loved each other.

Now that silence means she’s no longer there. I want to call her and I can’t. The silence has suddenly become palpable and too great to embrace.

I really wish I could write the words she deserved.
