After 3,600 hours of work physically digging and 1,200 tonnes of material sifted, this phase of the operation has now ended. The team will soon return to the UK, along with some of the items recovered during the search.

Detective Inspector Jon Cousins, the Senior Investigating Officer in Operation Ben, said: “During the course of the enquiries we have made over the last 19 months, we have closed off a large number of theories about what happened to Ben, many of which have been open for over 20 years.

“However, based on the information that I have now, as a result of an extensive and thorough investigation, it is without doubt that the current line of enquiry is the most probable cause for Ben’s disappearance.

“My team and I know that machinery, including a large digger, was used to clear an area of land on 24 July 1991, behind the farmhouse that was being renovated by the Needham’s. It is my professional belief that Ben Needham died as a result of an accident near to the farmhouse in Iraklis where he was last seen playing.

“The events leading up to and following that incident have been explored by my team of experts to great lengths. The fact that we have not had a direct result during this visit to Kos does not preclude the facts that we know to be true.

“An item found on Saturday, which I have shown personally to some of Ben’s family, was found in one of the targeted areas at the second site, very close to a dated item from 1991.

“It is our initial understanding that this item was in Ben’s possession around the time he went missing.

“The recovery of this item, and its location, further adds to my belief that material was removed from the farmhouse on or shortly after the day that Ben disappeared.

“Ben’s family have been provided with a full and thorough account of the events which we know to have taken place and also the speculations that we have been able to discount. Our thoughts are with the family as they are given time to digest this and they have our full and continued support.

“Our drive has always been the family, and their welfare. Ben's family have never given up on the team and I am incredibly thankful for their constant inspiration.

“We are also grateful to the current Greek authorities for their assistance, and the help received from the Home Office and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has been vital in allowing the team to continue getting answers for a family in need.

“We remain committed to the investigation and it will not simply close; myself and Detective Superintendent Matt Fenwick will retain ownership of it and if new information comes to light, we will investigate it thoroughly. We will not stop in our quest to find further answers for Ben’s family.”Textusahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06160632687242190030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6891574965172458848.post-77703239666230688882016-10-17T15:31:22.306+01:002016-10-17T15:31:22.306+01:00Anonymous 15 Oct 2016, 16:36:00,

We don’t think May physically fears anything or anyone concerning the Maddie case.

The fear being referred is the concerns she may have with anything or anyone who may be an obstacle to her personal and political interests.

There are 2 kind of powerful people, those who fought to be and are and will continue to be and those who have fought for an opportunity to be powerful and were able to achieve that.

To exemplify, powerful billionaires fall into the first category and powerful politicians into the second.

I once read that the best job of all is to be an “ex”. Ex-Prime Minister, ex-Formula 1 driver, ex-Tennis player, etc.

But for one to be able to be that, one has first to achieve a temporary powerful status that ensures a very comfortable, dignified and profitable, both in material as well as personal terms, future “ex” time, when one is no longer a powerful active player but one wishes to continue to belong to the influential powerful.

Powerful billionaires do not have that problem. Their powerfulness continues throughout time.

May, as Prime-Minister, is obviously concerned with all that may or not tarnish her term.

Politics, as all things in life, is a continuous give-and-take. One concedes here, to gain from elsewhere.

Maddie, like any other subject, is evaluated that way. If truth is to be revealed, who will it hurt and how and if will they be compensated? If they are compensated, will they feel satisfied? If they’re not compensated or don’t feel satisfied, what damage can be expected because of that?

If truth not revealed, same questions are asked.

Those are the intermediate questions to the final one that has a one word, yes, or no, answer: is it worth it?

We try as best as we can to avoid politics. Brexit has become a very sensitive issue to discuss and very hard to find common ground between positions.

But, although very negative, we think that there is something common between both sides of the Brexit fence: hard times are coming.

To the Remain camp, because it is what they feared would happen, to the Leave, because it is what has to be gone through to achieve much better times they believe are ahead.

Both camps agree that a hard hit will be coming.

This hard hit happens to coincide with the decision making in the Maddie case.

We will leave up to readers to decide on their own what each one thinks this upcoming hit scenario will affect May’s decision on the case.Textusahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06160632687242190030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6891574965172458848.post-16105592746102708502016-10-16T17:25:53.143+01:002016-10-16T17:25:53.143+01:00Also do you think that Teresa May herself needs to...Also do you think that Teresa May herself needs to worry herself about her part in the cover up. After all there are clear indications that she was well aware of the issues relating to the case when she allowed herself to be photographed with the McCanns. It's just a mystery to myself that we have the dig of the little boy in Greece and the police have no bother having a running commentary. Naming the chief suspect in his disappearance without any regard for his family or the premise of innocent until proven guilty and we have this case were to the general public who don't follow the case an impression is given that nothing is happening and nobody in authority is too concerned Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6891574965172458848.post-83307600534948269592016-10-16T17:13:11.784+01:002016-10-16T17:13:11.784+01:00I think that's a good question I understand th...I think that's a good question I understand that it has been an ongoing battle for over 9 years by people who can influence the PM to keep the truth from getting out. I think surely now she knows that it is inevitable that it is coming out. I too am puzzled about what stopping her. I wonder if Textusa has an opinion on whether the issues around Brexit is playing a part in preventing the truth coming out. After all if the McCanns and their friends and whoever else was involved are charged and the truth of the swinging is exposed then we have also to expose the British governments direct involvement in the cover up. Currently Teresa May language in relation to Brexit is IMO quite negative towards other EU countries and quite protective of the little englander/ British empire mentality. How would it look now if it was exposed that infact that the British government used this mentality to protect people who were involved the death of a wee baby. That they totally undermined another Eu countries police service and used their borders to prevent that countries police force from properly investigating the case. Some days we think she will, other days we don’t.

All we have done is show how things are set up in a way that IF there’s that political courage then the McCanns and the other T7 will be charged with obstructing justice and, possibly, if there’s a confession, one of them will also be charged with simple homicide without intent.

Or in Portuguese, homicídio simples sem dolo.

Lest people forget, and many seem to have done that, the crimes happened in Portugal and ONLY Portugal can prosecute. Agree that Portugal will only do it with UK’s green light.

But, as said, things are only set up. The final move has to be made. Only Theresa May can answer if she will.

But, have not the McCanns been already prosecuted? In our opinion they are now going in their ninth year in prison of their life sentence in a prison without wall.

A heavy conscience builds walls no one is able to escape. There may be a great deal of self-convincing but nothing is able to overcome being looked upon as guilty knowing the guilt is indeed there.

Even if UK archives and Portugal follows suit, the McCanns will never be able to proclaim innocence.Textusahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06160632687242190030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6891574965172458848.post-40227134845309941832016-10-15T07:11:58.423+01:002016-10-15T07:11:58.423+01:00Just one question do you ever think the mccann can...Just one question do you ever think the mccann can or will be charged with anything thanksAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6891574965172458848.post-82274058110063429522016-10-14T16:16:13.323+01:002016-10-14T16:16:13.323+01:00Also quite telling to see that CMTV associate Text...Also quite telling to see that CMTV associate Textusa with Crazy Grandpa and his tour macabro under the "McCanns dit it" umbrella. Naturally with all the news, people flocked there for unguided visits.

Interesting to read this: "Anglican vicar Father Haynes Hubbard – who became close to the McCanns – and Catholic priest Father Jose Manuel Pacheco will take turns to lead the service."

It seems that Father Pacheco continued to lead services in Luz up at least until then.
